Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog LeapStart® Learning TableCustomer Review: Best Xmas Gift last year - Worth every Penny - Great Value!! Summary: 5 Stars
My son received this table for Christmas last year at 9 months. We took the legs off (snap in and out with ease) and he would crawl and manuever around it to see the lights and press all the different buttons/components. This is the one toy he continually goes back to and doesn't loose interest. For the first 6 months he really loved the MUSIC. We have watched him dance for hours, turning on the songs with the banjo. It plays lots of different tunes before repeating and the same with the roller full of beads. It plays numerous songs as well in addition to the ABCs. This is the best engineered toy I've ever seen. Each item on the table has 2 functions, one in the ABC mode and the other in MUSIC mode. It's fantastic. It's a year later, he's 20 months and he is learning his colors from it now. I highly recommend this toy. The 2 volume levels are wonderful, the sounds are nice as they are recorded from actual instruments. After purchasing this item, we proceeded to buy other Leap Frog toys with great satisfaction. Now I want to buy stock in the company. Smart toys. . . I like that!! I almost forgot, with my supervision, he did alot of his first pulling up and walking attempts from this toy. He was encouraged to walk over and play with it.
Customer Review: LeapStart and diapers: don't leave home without them! Summary: 5 Stars
The LeapStart Learning Table by LeapFrog has not only been a source of smiles and distraction for our 9-month old (who has been playing with it for a couple of months now). It has been a truly educational toy for him. The table has detachable legs, so your baby can begin using it as soon as s/he can hold the head up and sit still. It has a "page turner" in the middle which swicthes all the buttons, keys and devices from a 'song mode' to an 'instrument mode'. When in song mode, all the devices sing back to the baby: some of them "A-B-C", others "1-2-3-4-5...", and a few others sing opposites such as "Up" and "Down", or "High" and "Low". When in instrument mode, pressing the buttons and keys and turning the wheels will make sounds of musical instruments come out of the learning table.
Today, months after starting to use it, I see Santiago flip pages in a book with ease, and his love for music increased. I can only say: LeapStart and diapers are two things that you cannot leave home without. And that's to remind you: it doesn't weight too much, so it's highly portable! Forget about the copycats that followed suit. This is the original and it's worth every penny.
Customer Review: fun and durable Summary: 5 Stars
This was purchased as a gift for my daughter when she was about 6 mo. old. With the legs off and on the floor, it encouraged her to crawl. She also used it to stand, and begin to cruise. The little purple door came off - she pulled it off, repeatedly, till i threw it out; but its not a danger at all - but other than that, this toy has lasted through now 2 very active and bright babies, and 3 major moves intact. I'm impressed.
Alot of the electronic-sounds toys sound gets fuzzy after a while, they break, or they suck down batteries. This one still has clear sound, has not broken (other than the purple door) at all, and having had it for 3 years, and it seeing a LOT of play time, i think we have had to replace the batteries 3 times total.
The music is not at all annoying, and you can turn it off (not all toys have this feature) as well as turn the sound down. There are 2 volume settings underneath the toy - easy to acess for you, but where your kid won't be able to easily mess with them till they are about 2 to 2 1/2.
My son (11 mo) really enjoys this toy, and my now 3 1/2 yr old DD still plays with it as well. Its been among the best, and certainly the most enduring, of the toys she has had. Well worth the money.
Customer Review: Fun for baby, entertaining for parents Summary: 5 Stars
The learning table was easy to assemble and immediately attracted my daughter's attention. Two months later, she still loves it. One of the most important factors for me in evaluating a toy or book is whether I find it interesting, because that means I'll be more likely to play with it with her. This table has great, jazzy music that's fun for me to listen to. There are two sets of music, and I much prefer the jazz set to the "educational" set. But I'm sure my daughter will eventually explore both. I'm also really pleased with all the different ways my daughter can play with this toy, learning new skills all the time. She's nine months old and lately has been opening and closing the lid very carefully. My only beef is that it's really not safe for her to lean on by herself, as the little girl does in the photo on this web site. When my daughter leans against it, it slides away. I'm worried she'll fall and bang her head on it. So when she's standing up with it, I stay close. When she learns to stand without leaning, it'll be fine. Otherwise this is a terrific toy. I am so pleased with it. It would be a great gift to parents of a baby under a year old, because then the baby will get many months of enjoyment out of it.
Customer Review: Very good, but not as fun as Playskool Spin 'N Pop Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this table when our daughter was 7 months old.
Now she is 1 yr old, and she has been using it every day ever since she got it.
But I have to say that if my daughter uses this table 2 times a day, she uses the Playskool Spin 'N Pop Arcade 6 times a day!! She has both tables, one next to the other in her play yard, and she goes to the Playskool table a lot more offen.
From my point of view, this LeapStart table is better because:
- It is more sturdy and well made,
- It has a wide variety of songs,
- I don't get tired of this songs (they're not annoying)
- It has a variety of activities
- It has a volume control
From my baby's point of view, the Playskool is better because:
- It is loud and colorful
- You can put ANY toy in the center and see it spin
- It is very fun to watch what it is going on with the balls
- If a ball falls from the table, you can crawl to get it
- There's more action going on here!
But anyway, I think that any toy that can keep my daughter's attention for months, using it every day, deserve 5 stars.
So, both tables are excelent!
