Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog LeapStart® Learning TableCustomer Review: This is a MUST-HAVE toy!!! We all love it! Summary: 5 Stars
This is THE GREATEST toy! We received this as a gift when our daughter was 7 months old. At the time, she was a little behind on her gross motor skills. The night we set it up, she "stood" leaning on it and playing with it for a full 5 minutes - before she realized that she didn't know how to stand up yet! Since then, it has been the single most helpful thing for her to quickly develop gross motor skills: pulling to standing, standing very strong (holding on but without leaning), and cruising. She's 10 months now, is doing great, and is completely caught up and excelling in gross motor skills. We give much of the credit to this well-designed and interesting toy. Three months later, it is still her #1 favorite toy and she plays with it MANY times a day. Fortunately, the music is really cool, so none of us are sick of it! I cannot recommend this toy enough for any child. But I do recommend you resist using it for a younger child without the legs, because the table will really motivate your child! Set it up when he/she can lean on it and start playing. Buy this toy for your child or as a gift! It's worth much more than the pricetag! p.s. Our durability rating is based on our friends' unit - their son has used it for over a year and still loves it.
Customer Review: Worth the Money! Summary: 5 Stars
Our twin boys received this Leap Frog table for thier first birthday and they have loved it ever since! Although it is a bit pricey, it is worth every penny. it is full of educational things: it teaches ABC's numbers, up/down, low/high, open/closed, hello/goodbye, and I could go on and on. My boys are now 16 months and they still play with it. I am not sure if they have really learned any of the things it is trying to teach them but if their interest continues they surely will! It has legs that are somewhat sturdy, but the boys are in a phase where they like to push the table over and upside down and stand on it. I don't know why! It has taken a beating and still works well. The only small part that broke is the purple lid that opens and closes. But it snaps back into place and still works. For smaller kids you can keep the legs off and keep it on the floor. It also works well as kids learn to pull up and stand. It is sturdy enough for them to use to get up. My favorite part of all, however, is the catchy music! This is NOT annoying baby toy music-these are good tunes! And there is a page from a book in the middle of the toy that turns. When you turn the page all the activities have different words and music! So cool! My hubby even likes to play with this!
Customer Review: Perfect Toy - hours of entertainment Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first toy I have owned that I feel compelled to write a review for. My daughter got this toy for her first Christmas from Grandma when she was 4 months old. She didn't use it much then, but now we don't go anywhere without it. When I say anywhere, I mean anywhere! We recently took a trip across the country and the playtable came with us, split up between three suitcases, because my husband said it had to come with us. My daughter (now 9 months) spends hours a day at this playtable. She prefers it to all of her other toys, and friends come over for play dates just so their kids can play at the playtable. She has learned to pull up, stand, fall on her bottom, stoop, and cruise because of this playtable. Her favorite is the bebop song that plays when you open the purple door. She mouths the words to it every time. Several of my playgroup friends have bought other playtables, only to end up returning them to get this one. My ONLY complaint is that the purple door can be pulled off if it is opened and then bent backwards. It is easily put back on the same way that it comes off. It does not pose a choking hazard or reveal any sharp parts, so it is more of an annoyance then a problem. Still I give it 5 stars and kudos from a mom who has everything.
Customer Review: Fun for child, not annoying to parents Summary: 5 Stars
Well, over 500 reviewers agree this is a great toy and there's no disagreement here. It is cheerful but not annoying, also colorful and bright without being garish. I know every sound this toy makes at this point, but they do not annoy me. This could be great luck or superb market research, but whatever the case I am very pleased.
The removable legs allow three main positions:
A) No legs - just flat on the ground for crawlers.
B) Four legs - good for encouraging the little one to pull up. My little Max is just learning to stand, and when he gets too tired to pull up this configuration frustrates him.
C) Two legs - propping up the table like a little toy easel. Max really likes thing set up - he can stretch and sit more upright, but doesn't get tired.
This toy plows through the batteries. Definitely invest in some rechargeable batteries for the long haul. Also, if my child is a guide, your child will love this thing so much they will stand until their legs literally give out. The fully upright configuration of this toy demands parental monitoring until baby can stand for long periods. That said, my boy gets very excited when he sees this toy and has maintained an interest in it for quite a while.
Customer Review: Perfect for little ones! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this toy a couple of months ago (for $50) when our daughter was 6-months-old and we have found it to be an amazing toy! Initially we removed the legs and let her play with it. Our daughter loved all the levers and the different sounds it makes.
Now that she is almost 9-months-old, she wants to pull up on everything. With all 4 legs attached, the table fell on her because of the uneven weight distribution caused by her pulling. She would do just fine once we helped her to stand because the table is perfectly weighted to support a standing baby. From a suggestion we got from another reviewer, we started using only 2 legs on the toy so that it was on an angle. What a great idea! Now my daughter can pull herself up on the table without fear of it tipping onto her.
My daughter has played with the toy EVERY day since we bought it. The music is still pleasing to MY ears because there are so many different sounds as well as volume control. My husband's favorite feature is the legs, which come off easily for adults but which lock securely into place to prevent baby from doing so. Very few toys seem to be child-proof and adult-proof.
If you want to get your money's worth, buy this toy! We spent more and still think it is a great deal!
