Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog LeapStart® Learning TableCustomer Review: I love this table..... Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this toy for my daughter for christmas... she had just turned 8 months by then, I had read the reviews of the product here and was a little iffy about buying it because of the fact that the table legs were not stable, but I went ahead and bought it anyways. Ever sense then my daughter LOVES this table. it hasnt fallen down yet. Shes 20lbs and is just starting to pull herself up and she will be 10 months on the 22nd and she will use the table to pull herself up and to hold herself up and it never has fallen yet. She will stand at this toy for a while. she enjoys fliping the book and dancing to the music. we will also put her teething biscutes and cookies and bananna crackers in the little side compartment... and she is learning to open it and grab out one eat it and play and remebering the fact that there is something in there for her. shes also learning how to land on her butt, when we first got this she would just plop down if there was a toy or a cracker down on the floor that she wanted.. and she would cry.. now shes learning to slide down to the floor. Just from this toy she has learned so much.. from how to stand to how to flip the book and to make all of the things go... if anyone ever asked my opinion on to buy this toy or not I would have to say go buy it... the price is only bad thing about this toy... but its worth everything that she is learning now and in the future.
Customer Review: Leaping for LeapFrog!! Summary: 5 Stars
We got this table for our son when he was just over 6 months old and had just started "pulling up". Now, at 12 months, this table is still his very favorite toy and sees plenty of action every day. First and, perhaps, foremost, is the table's durability. Our son is quite the drooler (lots of teething going on!) and has, quite literally, showered the Learning Table on a ragular basis. This has had no ill effect on any part of the table. Also, now that he's on the verge of walking, he has taken to using the table as a walker (he's strong enough now to push it across the floor). The table is sturdy enough and well-balanced so that it doesn't topple over even with him going full-tilt. We love both the fun and educational elements of this toy, as well. Our son seems more drawn to the musical features, rather than the "ABC/123" ones, but has a great time with both. The colored piano keys have really helped him to begin to identify colors (when we ask him now, "can you press the blue key?", he does it!) This toy has been great for learning cause and effect, as well as being a great aid in learning to stand and walk. We have since purchased the table for both our niece and nephew and they are enjoying the table just as much as our son. We have several LeapFrog toys, but this is by far the favorite. We couldn't recommend the LeapStart Learning Table more highly!
Customer Review: Awesome from 6-8 months to at least 14 months Summary: 5 Stars
This was one of the first toys that engaged our son's attention to the point that we could leave him to play by himself for a few minutes. We first gave it to him at around 6 months, when he was sitting up but not yet standing. I didn't put the legs on it at first and just let him play with the top. He liked it somewhat then but it really came into its own when he could use it to support himself standing. He would spend a LONG time playing with the music. He liked to cycle through the tunes it could play until he found one he liked. The music itself has great production values--snippets of instrumental and vocal jazz, as well as a good number of classic nursery melodies, all activated by a variety of controls.
One of our favorite features was the source of our only complaint about this item. The purple box lid that sings when you open it started popping off the table after a couple of months. It appears to have a manufacturing defect that causes it to pop off when you open it after the hinges have worn down some with use.
Our son's interest dropped off dramatically when he became a confident walker, around 14 months. We eventually took it out of his room because he simply wasn't using it. We'll try reintroducing it at some point--maybe he just got bored with it temporarily. Even if he never plays with it again we definitely feel like we got our money's worth.
Customer Review: This is a hit with the whole family! Summary: 5 Stars
I just recently splurged on this for my 8 month old son. He is just learning to stand up on his own and is constantly trying to pull things off tables or bother our poor dog. I quickly realized that an activity table might keep those busy hands busy. I agonized over the purchase, for it was going to be the first big toy I bought for our small house. I looked at the Microsoft Intelli-table, but it looked a little Atari-ish with it's flashing lights in the middle. I looked at the Fisher Price models with the blocks (which were cheaper), but I figured that Legos would be the block of choice soon enough. I was sold on the LeapStart b/c of the musical theme. It has a banjo that plays bluegrass, a compartment that scats when you open it, it has shapes that plays the drums, a bass that plays the bass, etc. But here is the best part, it is all real music, not some electronic rendition of good music, the real stuff. For parents, it is a godsend, b/c it is not offensive to listen to over and over again (but it does have volume control for those times when you need it). My child was actually squealing with delight when I gave it to him. It is now his favorite thing to play with, and he has finally found something more interesting than crawling after our old dog. I would have paid much more for this toy.
Customer Review: - Baby's Favorite Toy! - Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this toy for my twins when they were 6 months old. I thought it looked like no big deal for the price. But I read the reviews and it was so highly rated, I figured I'd give it a try. Well, I base almost all of my baby toy purchases on amazon reviews now. They were right on the money!
My twins absolutely LOVE this table. It helped them when they were learning to pull themselves up on things. And the constant standing up and down, playing with this toy...has made them so strong and confident on their feet. I was worried that it wouldn't be sturdy enough when they pulled up on it. But it sure is sturdy. Very solid and well built.
And it keeps them entertained for awhile! They play with it for at least an hour total each day. I'll spread out a bunch of toys and they still go to this learning table first. And then to the other toys...and then back to the table. They can't get enough of it! They just love to turn the page of the book...over and over again. It's so amazing to watch and see how they have learned to spin the maraca, flick the banjo, pull down on the violin, push the trombone and open/close the lid. Even after 5 months of playing with this toy, they still enjoy it. That's money well spent!
This is a must have!
