Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog LeapStart® Learning TableCustomer Review: One of the best toys on the market!! Summary: 5 Stars
If you are debating about purchasing this toy, put your doubts aside. This is a wonderful toy!! We purchased it for my daughter when she was 5 months old. However, she really started to interact with it around 6 months. The legs on the table are removable, so it is great for tummy time or babies who have just learned to sit up. It does have 2 volume settings. We have had this toy for 6 months and have not yet had to replace the batteries. (and I do not turn it off each day) The door that opens to the snack/goodie tray comes off very easily. In fact, it is the first thing my daughter does each time she plays with it. However, after 6 months, it still pops right back on and works perfectly. One word of caution: when my little one first started to pull up, she would put all of her weight into her arms and cause the table to pull over. This is remedied by keeping the legs off for a few weeks. Once she could pull up well, we were able to put the legs back on, and now she pulls up to a standing postion using the table over and over again. She loved the toy before she could stand up and play with it, but now, at 10 months, she gets even more excited about it. She plays with it each day, and quickly learned cause and effect - which buttons made which sounds. I have friends with toddlers and older preschoolers, and they all play with this toy every time they come to our home. All in all, this is a great toy, and I feel we will get use out of it for many years to come.
Customer Review: worth the money we spend..... Summary: 5 Stars
pros:1) the best product we ever got for our daughter interms of learning values. it teaches alphabets, numbers and colors. 2) it has 2 modes. one is for learning the above and other for just music. a) in learning mode, it sings ABC song which is popular with my baby. she likes the song and always plays that. what happens is hearing it so many times will make them learn easily. it also sings numbers and colors but not quite effective as ABC song though. there r also other things like up,down, hello, bye etc b) music mode is THE BEST mode for my baby. she is 11 months old now and turns on the music and dances for the tunes herself. we never taught her dance or did we dance infront of her. but she automatically started dancing to the tunes and there r a lotof tunes for the babies to enjoy 3) it provides all the skills like shown in the figure above. which is quite good for the money we spend 4)it keeps her occupied for atleast half an hour and she doesnt care what i'm doing and where i'm in that time. cons: 1) the purple color thing (which says hello and bye) comes off very easily. it actually came off the next day we bought and my daughter is not even very fierce candidate to do things like that. so i suggest to LEAP FROG to take care of it. 2) also in the a, b, c mode i wish there r more things to play. for the money i paid i really expected more than that 3) i wish the table is little bit more in height than it is now or atleast some adjustments can be given age-wise.
Customer Review: Mommy to Busy Boy Summary: 5 Stars
What a great toy! I must confess that it's supposed to be a present, but we tried it out before wrapping it for Christmas for our son to see if he would play with it and make sure the sounds aren't too obnoxious. He is 4 months old and I wanted to get him something that he could play with now (meaning Christmas) and also grow into. He is already playing with the buttons and slides and loves watching the lights flash, although I had to help him sit up to see what he was doing. But considering that it's recommended for 6+ months, we knew we were cheating. I had to wait for him to take a nap to take it away and put it back in the box because it held his attention so well, which is remarkable for a 4 month old. I rated educational value as only 4 stars because I think there are more educational toys out there, but by being entertaining and holding his attention, the repetition should be of benefit. After reading some of the other reviews complaining about the noise, I have to disagree. The high volume setting could be a bit loud, but the low setting is very tolerable. We looked at a lot of different electronic learning tables and toys and some of the sounds are truly obnoxious. I'm not sure what some of the other parents expect to hear from a toy that is supposed to play a variety of music and interact verbally with their child. Maybe they haven't listened to some of the competiton? Overall, I am very excited about re-introducing this to our son at Christmas (if we can wait that long)!
Customer Review: Great Learning Toy Summary: 5 Stars
When Christmas arrived last year and relatives asked what our daughter needed/wanted, we said anything that is a table toy that is sturdy enough for her to pull herself up on and stand at while playing. It was equally important that the toy hold her interest with interactive sounds and lights. At the time she was just 9 months old. Her aunt bought this toy and what a terrific investment!!! Two months later this toy is still center-stage in Samantha's play area. She loves the music and lights...and has a lot of fun with the spinner and the flap that opens to reveal a deep pocket (perfect for finding surprise Cheerio's Mom and Dad have hidden for her!).This is a very versatile toy. The legs are wide for stability and can be removed for babies not yet ready to stand (or for traveling!!!). My favorite part of this toy is it's focus on music (drum, cello, banjo, piano, songs, etc.) and descriptive words such us "Up", "Down", "Open", "Closed", colors, the alphabet and counting. Amazing! I don't believe the volume is adjustable, however the sound quality is very good, the music is not too loud or obnoxious...some toys just simply drive you crazy after awhile or the sound goes downhill or the sound is so loud you end up taking the batteries out...not so with this toy. After two months of everyday use the sound is still clear. I recommend this toy to all parents as a valuable teaching tool as well as a fun activity center for their kids.
Customer Review: My 9 month-old's favorite toy Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter loves this toy. My husband and I also like it because it keeps her attention for long stretches of time. She has been playing with it for a couple of months and it is the one toy she plays with every day. It encouraged her to improve her pulling-up and standing skills. As my daughter gets older, she interacts with it more. At first, she liked sliding the trombone lever and flipping the page of the book. Then she discovered that she could hit the "drum" switches and bang on the piano keys. Now she also enjoys opening and closing the door, spinning the maracas and flipping the handle on the banjo. The sounds are not mechanical --they are recordings of real music or of a real woman singing. The sounds are not irritating to her dad or me. In fact, I often find myself singing along. On the singing mode, you can hear the full ABC song, a counting song from 1 to 10, an "open/close" and "hello/goodbye" when you open and close the door or a "High/low" and "up/down" when the lever of the bass is moved up and down. The piano keys and drums sing the name of the color of the keys or drum that you hit. We appreciate the fact that on the music mode, some of the "instruments" have as many as 14 different songs that will play. That way you don't always hear the same song over and over. I feel this is a very well made/designed educational toy that encourages gross motor skills like crawling, pulling-up and cruising. It's also fun!
