Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog LeapStart® Learning Table

Customer Review: great for motor skills
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this item at a yard sale thinking it would be worth it if only to give my 7-month-old daughter something else to hold on to than our coffee table as she began to stand with support. Within a few days it became clear that not only was she entertained by the music and lights (she often giggles when playing with it) but that she also picked up a few motor skills as well. For example she learned the pincher grasp in order to open and close a purple flap.
Even though this proved to be a great standing toy, I had to counter-balance it so it would not tip over whenever she tried to pull herself up with it so beware when your baby is getting a little more independent. However this can be expected from this type of toys and a little supervision will do the trick.
Another great aspect is that this item can be switched from a simple musical toy to a learning device easily making it more lasting. Apparently it is a fairly strong and durable item as it resisted the various "abuses" of a toddler before making it to our house.

Customer Review: Cute Jazzy sounds
Summary: 5 Stars

We just bought this for our 15 month old nephew for Christmas. When it arrived at the door today I wanted to open the box and check it out to make sure it worked. This thing is CUTE! Every little button and slide makes a fun jazzy sound with different instruments and sometimes a lady's voice does an amusing doobedoobe "scat" in music mode; or, depending on which way the page in the middle is turned, has the woman's voice saying "open", "close", reciting numbers, singing the alphabet song, identifying colors and shapes, etc. in learning mode. I think our nephew will LOVE this toy - and so will my brother and sister-in-law! Now we don't have kids or really like children's toys all that much but the sounds made by this toy aren't annoying and shrill like most I've heard. It seems quite durable with easy-to-grab buttons and knobs that don't appear to be easily broken. I didn't put the legs on but they seem to be sturdy plastic legs. I gave four stars for durability because I just don't know about that yet.

Customer Review: My son and I didn't like it!!!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

Well I had purchased this toy for my 9 month old son and returned it the next day. We have the fisher price intelli table so I bought this also to see which one he liked more. He kept playing with the intelli table more and a couple times he tried pulling up on the leapfrog table and it kept tipping over so I took the legs off and he touched it a couple more times but didn't seem to like it. I do have to say though that it has the most annoying music to it. The way the girl sings the alphabet and says open and close and the numbers, I just couldn't stand it. What ever happened to the old original way of singing the alphabet? But anyways, for a baby that is already walking its probably good because they won't tip it trying to pull up. It did seem pretty durable too and its not loud like a couple of the other reviews said, it has a volume control. But, I am sticking with my intelli table and fisher-price is coming out with a new smart screen intelli table in September and I plan on buying that one for his 1st B-Day.

Customer Review: Surprise hit with the whole family
Summary: 5 Stars

I never would have purchased this toy for my children (3 yr old son, and 2 yr old twin sons) because in general, I don't like the noisy LeapFrog products, but I have to admit, my kids all adore this toy. My older son enjoys pressing all of the buttons and musical instruments and changing the mode by turning the book page, and my twins, who are developmentally delayed (one more so than the other), also enjoy the cause-and-effect activities where they are rewarded with different sounds and lights for touching different things. This is just a great toy. Mercifully, there is a "soft mode" in addition to a "loud mode," and you can turn the table off as well when you just can't stand listening to it anymore. But mostly, ours stays on, and is played with constantly by our three, together and separately. I guess that's really the best thing about this toy - three kids can and will stand around it all playing with it together - it is not something that one needs to "hoard" away to enjoy.

Customer Review: LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE 5 Stars

We got this toy for our (at-the-time) 6 month old daughter for Christmas. She is now almost 11 mos. old and loves it now just as much as when she first got it. She will spend an hour cruising around the table and listening to all of the educational sounds and songs. She loves to turn the page to hear different sounds from the various buttons and keys.

Even my 2 1/2 yr. old niece loves it. Every time she comes to our house that is the first toy she goes to. Both my niece and my daughter can play on the table at the same time. And with both of them pushing and pulling up on it, it proves its durability.

The table is very easy to assemble. Just the legs need to be attached to the base and it is ready to go. We take this table when we visit grandparents and they enjoy the table just as much as our daughter. The variety of songs and sounds is wonderful and very entertaining. I think our daughter (and future children) will enjoy this toy for years to come. This would make a wonderful fun & educational gift!
