Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog LeapStart® Learning TableCustomer Review: keeps my toddler's interest for more than 10 seconds Summary: 5 Stars
I really don't want to tell you the number of toys I have bought for my 2 year & 8 mo. old sons. I cringe every time I see them lying around untouched for days, weeks and some even months. When I try rotating them into active play, they might get touched for a couple of minutes and then carelessly tossed aside. Ouch. However, this LeapStart Learning Table is one of the few exceptions. I love all the various motor skills it encourages (manipulating the various musical instruments - I especially liked the inclusion of the banjo - very different) as well as the color, alphabet and counting buttons. It has a little bit of everything which is a great value for the price. Although primarily for the 1+ crowd, it entertains all toddlers. More importantly, it stands up to the rough handling of two boys and still interests my older one. My only complaint if that there is only one turning page in the book portion but it's a minor complaint. This is definitely the only activity table you need to get and unfortunately for my wallet, you can take my word for this.
Customer Review: Great for Babies to Grow With! Summary: 5 Stars
This table was received as a Christmas gift for my then 4-month-old daughter. I was sure this would sit in some corner until she was toddling around or old enough to fall into the suggested age BUT... I was wrong! My husband got the bright idea to take two of the front legs off and sit this unit on its side. This allowed my daughter to kick the piano keys..., which she absolutely loved (with supervision, of course). When she was able to sit unsupported, we removed the other two legs. This allowed her to reach out, play with the keys and other musical instruments, and build balance on the floor. When my daughter could finally stand up with support, we put all the legs back on. Now, a year later, she still loves this table and plays with it more than anything else. This toy is so educational early on. Its also helped to introduce my daughter to songs and music which has turned her into a bopping machine! I love this table. Its very durable and worth every penny. Ours has seen so much action and it still looks practically brand new.
Customer Review: Make sure you get the new one with proper leg supports! Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this toy and absolutely loved it until our baby started pulling up on it. The table would at times fall on top of him! We contacted Leapfrog to inform them of this problem and they did admit that it was a design flaw and they have since come out with new legs for the table. They are not conducting a recall, but if you contact them they will send out new legs for the table at no cost. Of course, they are backordered right now and they have no way of keeping track of the people requesting new legs. They ask us to keep calling back week after week. This is very discouraging and quite surprising coming from such a big name for educational and safe toys made for children. This, I find to be unexceptable. While my son loves to play with this toy, I am forced to take it away from him until we are able to get new, stable legs for it. Playing with the toy on the ground is no longer appealing to him, as he is venturing out to walk. By the time Leapfrog gets the backordered legs to us, he will more than likely have grown out of the toy.
Customer Review: My son's favorite! Summary: 5 Stars
My son got this for Christmas when he was six months old. He was sitting up then, so I removed just two of the legs and put it in front of him at a 45-degree slant. He LOVED it! When he started pulling up, he would crawl to the table and play with whichever "instruments" were closest to him. Now that he's a little more confident, he has mastered the table. He likes to dance to the music and has started singing "be-bop-be-bop" with the scatting voice. As a mom, I love this toy for different reasons. It's versatile and portable. It has a volume control switch! The best part of it is that the music is entertaining to my child without being obnoxious to the rest of the family. And, so long as my toddler is playing with his table, I know where he is and what he's doing, even if I'm in another room. Oh, it's been on constantly for months, and we haven't had to change the batteries yet! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this toy for tummy-time, sitting-up, crawling, pulling up, and toddling little ones. Your child will love it.
Customer Review: Great Learning Toy Summary: 4 Stars
We got this for my daugther for her first birthday. She plays with it for hours at a time. It really keeps her entertained and I can feel good about letting her play with it so much because it is helping her learn. I was debating between this and the Fisher Price learning table. I went with this one because I was concerned with the fact the other one is based on food. Plus when I went to the store all the tables only played the alphabet to the letter "p", and the salesmen couldn't figure out why. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because I wish there were more pages to the book in the middle. I know that is how you switch from music mode to learning mode, but my daughter loves turning the pages and is always looking for more pages to turn. This is a great toy. I love the fact that a baby who isn't standing can play with it if you take the legs off. Or a baby can sit and play if you take only two legs off. I would recommend this toy to any parent looking for a fun yet educational toy for the baby/toddler.
