Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Hug & Learn Baby Tad PlushCustomer Review: Great Value! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this toy as a christmas gift for our 15 month old daughter and she's played with it every day since. I love the fact that there is an on/off button (good job to the designers!) and also that there is a hidden volume control, although we've not had to use that yet. The lights make it interesting to our daughter, and the toy keeps her attention by "talking" to her when she's not playing with it (It'll say "Let's snuggle." or "Peek-a-boo, I see you." if a button isn't pushed for a little bit.) Every time she turns away, it'll talk to her, and she'll respond by playing with it more. The songs are great - different from songs on her other toys (a big relief to me, since I listen to them all day long....) I love the sound effects it makes during the songs! Good job!! It makes me want to try other LeapFrog items as my daughter gets older.
Customer Review: Tad goes everywhere with us! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought Baby Tad for our daughter when she was only 3 months old. She loved seeing the bright shapes light up on Tad's tummy and hearing the songs. Tad has gone everywhere we go for the past 9 months. We never leave the house without him. He keeps her entertained while riding in the car. Her first birthday theme (in 2 weeks) will be Baby Tad. Only problem we've had is two buttons fail to work now -- the lips on Tad's face no longer kiss and say "I love you", and the blue square bottom does not light up to indicate this is the button to push to hear the song. She knows the lips used to "do something" and continues to take my finger to his face to make it work. Now I have to make the kissing sound and say "I love you" several times before she gives us! He's a cutie! I think she'll be getting a replacement Tad from Santa.
Customer Review: A favorite Summary: 5 Stars
We have used the lullaby feature for my son since he was just a few months old, and I LOVE it! I turn it on to "6 minutes till night-night" and my son is out! We bring him on trips and it really helps my son get to sleep much better than when we haven't had it. My son is 17 months old now, and has only been interested in playing with the other features of baby Tad for a few months now. I like that it teaches shapes and colors. The volume is adjustable (on the battery pack- took me forever to find it), but it is still a bit loud for night time. I'd recommend this toy even if it only had the lullaby function, so all the rest is just bonus!
(Warning- don't keep this toy the crib with your toddler- the one and only time mine jumped out of his crib, Baby Tad gave him a boost. Thank goodness my son landed in a full laundry hamper!!!)
Customer Review: doesn't hold interest Summary: 3 Stars
We received this as a Christmas gift, and ds loved it for a week. Now he won't even touch it, unless I am playing with it, then he will push a button and walk away and play with Toby the totbot. The night time button worked great especially since we were out of town and didn't have ds' music cds for bedtime. It is nice that you don't have to turn the doll off or on..I don't even know why they have a button, because you can push any button and it will turn on, which is annoying if you are carrying with a bunch of other toys and this one starts talking and singing, and the only way to shut it off is to take the batteries out. Like I said the off/on button is useless because it comes on when any button is touched.
All it teaches kids are 6 colors and 6 shapes (together), and songs. The laugh and learn puppy by FP is more educational.
Customer Review: What a great toy! Summary: 5 Stars
My son received Baby Tad last Christmas when he was 7 months old and he loved it even then but as he has gotten older and learned how to push the shapes that light up, it's an even bigger hit! The night time mode with a timer is a hit with me because he goes to bed with it every night and usually falls instantly asleep. If not, he will play with Tad for a few minutes then drift off to sleep. When he wakes up in the morning he doesn't fuss to get up immediately but plays with Tad until I can get in his room to get him. We haven't found the buttons hard to push at all. The only trouble we've had with it is that the 'kiss' mode stopped working about 2 months ago and he loved getting his 'kiss' from the frog. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Leap Frog product. As a matter of fact, there are several on my shopping list for Christmas this year!
