Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Fridge Wash & Go Magnetic Vehicle SetCustomer Review: Concept Great...Construction Lacking Summary: 3 Stars
I was so excited when I came across this toy. My 3 year old son loved the farm version of this toy when he was younger. I have 18 month old twins who also love the farm version, so when I saw this item I thought this would be a perfect addition to our refrigerator toy collection. It is educational and entertaining. However, Leapfrog changed the materials used and this "car wash" is not as sturdy as the farm we have from three years ago. The magnet isn't very strong so the toy slides down the refrigerator door. This frustrates my children since they enjoy working on the puzzle while standing. I now give the toy to them while they sit in their highchairs. They enjoy making matches and the vehicles are quite cute. Overall, I still like the toy since it encourages problem solving. The music is also cute and isn't too loud. From recent pictures I've seen of the farm, it looks to me as if it is different from the version I have so I am not sure that the problem I described is limited to this variation of the toy.
Customer Review: Fun toy Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my 18 month old grandson. The car wash attaches to any magnetic surface very securely. The little cars, planes, etc are easy to pull off and he had not trouble putting them into the car wash. He loves to push the buttons to hear the music and sounds. There is a loudness setting that goes from off, to soft, to loud. It would have made more sense to make the LOUD setting in the middle, as a young child will switch to the two extremes, and not usually find the middle. However the sounds are not annoying, and the music is fun to listen to. There are quite a few songs. He sometimes walks off with some of the magnets, and since they come in two halves, I'm sure he will eventually lose some of the parts. Hopefully we can order replacement parts when that happens. Great toy! Amazon warned about small parts, but actually I think the parts are large enough that a little child could not swallow them.
Customer Review: Christmas present for my son Summary: 4 Stars
My son is very obsessed with anything that has "wheels" so when I saw this at Target, I knew I had to get it for him. I looked around a little, and the price here was good. He opened it up on Christmas and promptly yelled "wheels!", and I knew I made a good choice. Half the time it isn't on the fridge because he's carrying it around the house with him. It's slightly different from the barn animals one they have available in that you can put 2 mismatched pieces together and it comes up with a cute name for the "new" vehicle. There's 2 different volume levels, a button that just plays a song, and when you put the vehicle together in the magnetic area, it identifies it by color, congratulates you for making a match, and sings a little song. My son absolutely loves this toy.
Customer Review: My 2 year old loves this. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this toy for my son for Christmas. I was a little worried that he might be too old for this toy and it wouldn't get much use - but I was wrong. We had the farm version of this toy and my son played with it quite a bit when he turned one. Lately he has been into cars, trucks and trains as well as puzzles - so I thought this might be a good match. My son loves making the matches and hearing the little song that plays. He has played with this toy every single day for about 2 weeks now. I like that the toy reinforces language development, such as saying "Green Train" or "Red Car". It will help him learn his colors while developing his matching skills. Great toy - Leap Frog is always a favorite in our house.
Customer Review: Great Toy! Funny and Entertaining!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this toy for our 12 month old son for Christmas. We didn't expect him to play with it much yet but figured it would give him something to do while I load the dish washer or something. We were wrong. He loves this toy! He pushes the buttons to make the music come on and dances along. He understands that the puzzle pieces should go in it but he can't figure out how yet, but he tries. It's really cute that the Car Wash knows if you put the wrong vehicles together and it sings cute and catchy songs whether you are right or wrong. We have a 5 and 6 year old too and they enjoy playing with it too! Very durable, has 2 volume settings and strong magnets. I'm going to order the Farm one too.
