We got the Leapfrog Fridge Phonics set for Christmas the year before last. Our (then) 2-year old son learned all of his letter sounds within 2 weeks of Christmas -- it was great! We had been wanting the lowercase letters for him also and finally decided to buy them. Just like the capital letters, these are an excellent educational tool to help kids learn their letters and sounds, plus they are a rare toy that uses lowercase letters. On top of the obvious educational and entertainment values, our kids also enjoy toting these letters around the house. They have used them to learn which of their dump trucks magnets will stick to, which appliances will hold them, which buckets they won't dump out of because they're stuck to them, etc. Overall, a great toy! We've never had any problem with the original Fridge Phonics set or the lowercase expansion pack.Customer Review: Preschool Fridge Scrabble!

My preschool age son was given the LeapFrog Phonics toy for Christmas a year ago. I've really liked the sturdy, easy-to-hold, and easy-to-read magnets. He liked it for awhile (while he learned his letters) and then it lay forgotten. One day it occurred to me to put the letters all on the fridge. Soon my four year old son was spelling words with them. He was somewhat frustrated because the original LeapFrog set has one of each letter, limiting the words that can be spelled. Thus, I was thrilled to see the expansion kit. I bought two sets and he's been happy learning ever since. The game has expanded to a scrabble like game. He spells a word and then I add, etc. Great product to expand the learning of the original set!Customer Review: Great with Word Whammer

I purchased this as an expansion after I saw how much my granddaughter loved playing with Word Whammer. These lower case letters work great with Word Whammer. She is three years and four months old and can sound out almost all her letters now. I purchased another lowercase pack plus a Word Whammer for another granddaughter who I'm told also plays with it very often and not just on the refrigerator. This is a great product. I stumbled across it and my 3 year old was so excited. We matched up "Momma and Baby" letters and by the end of our playing he knew all his lower case. He loved hunting the paper "Map" that comes in the box to find out which letter went with which. We have been using this with the "Letter Factory" and "Word Factory" DVDs and in only a couple weeks he now knows all the letter big and small, their sounds and some basic 3 letter words. I can not say enough about this series. I'm not the hugest fan of all the LeapFrog stuff - but this one they did right! Although advertised as compatible with ALL fridge phonics sets, I was dissapointed to open the expansion pack on my son's birthday and discover that the letters did not fit his fridge phonics word builder or magnetic alphabet set. A call to Leap Frog to try and resolve the problem was unsuccessful. The company does not seem to understand the meaning of the word ALL. They claim that the phonics products I have are new and the expansion pack is old therefore negating the compatibility. The packaging does not list any product age disclaimers. Luckily, Amazon accepted the return easily.
