Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal SetCustomer Review: Requires a lot of coordination Summary: 4 Stars
This is a really good product, provided that your child is ready for it. Based on all of the great reviews, we bought it for my daughter's first birthday. She loved the sounds, and that the magnets stuck to the fridge. However, she lacked the gross moter skills to be able to fit the peices into the barn...they have to be turned exactly right to fit into place. She would get really frustrated, so I would have to be right there with her to assist. (This negates why we have toys in the kitchen...to give us time to cook dinner!) Now that she's about 16 months old, she's able to fit the peices in the right spot, and seems to be getting more out of it. But, of course, she's bored with it, so doesn't play with it much. So, bottom line advice: get it, but wait until your child has enough coordination to, say, fit a square block into a square block hole in a shape sorter.
Customer Review: My 9-month old chose this Summary: 5 Stars
I took my then-eight-month-old daughter to the toy section of the local department store right after Christmas. I chose various toys and held them to her, and pushed their various buttons to see how she would respond to them. This farm set was the fourth item I picked up. As I pushed the buttons and it made noise, she was immedately captivated. She grabbed at the box and wouldn't let go. I held another toy up to her, pushed its buttons but she wouldn't have it. It was this farm set she held on to.
That was in December and there is not a day that goes by where she crawls to the fridge and pushes the buttons, plays with the animal squares and trys to get them into the right spots. She really enjoys Tad's Banjo playing.
This was a great choice and a product that has lasting attention power. Thanks Leap Frog for putting it out.
Customer Review: WONDERFUL TOY! Summary: 5 Stars
My son got this over a year ago (Christmas 2004). He was 6 months old. He didnt play with it yet although we had it available and we did it for him. As he got older he'd play more and more. He is 21 months old (almost) and he LOVES IT! He carries it around the house and knows the songs and noises they make ans smiles so huge at it.
I love how its not negative. You dont ever do something wrong... you just do something silly. I love that positive reinforcement!
It still works perfectly. In fact I replaced the batteries for the second time yesterday. Yup... Its played with A LOT during the day and its batteries were only replaced 2 times in over a year! You cant say that about many toys!
my next son (due in June) will hopefully get to use the same one and if need be, we'll buy another one because this is a great toy!
Customer Review: Fun Toy But Paint Chips Easilly!!!!! DON'T BUY!!!! Summary: 2 Stars
This is a really fun toy. My son received it for his 1st birthday. My son LOVED it but the paint chipped off within 2 weeks of him playing with it. I found this out when he had weird green and yellow flecks around his mouth. I quickly figured it out that it was from the farm set. I contacted LeapFrog and let them know that. They said it wasn't a concern to them that the paint flakes off. If we wanted a replacement or credit towards another toy, we'd have to ship the toy to them and pay for shipping on a new item. I found that to be ridiculous. I had a couple problems with some Fisher Price toys and they shipped out replacements right away, no questions asked, no money required.
This toy would still be a part of this household if the paint didn't chip off. For that, and for LeapFrogs' lack of proper customer service, it went in the garbage.
Customer Review: Very Cute and Fun Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for my 10 month old son and although he doesn't completely understand how it works yet, he can't resist pushing the button to make the frog play music. He loves to play with the animal pieces and needs help putting them together, but it's fun to sit and play with him and show him the different animals. He'll sit and dance to the music and slide the animal pieces around on the fridge. He's really into throwing things right now, so the animal pieces have taken quite a beating and the paint has chipped a little after only a few days, but I'm sure they weren't designed to completely withstand being slammed against a tile floor, either. I'm pretty confident that as he gets older he'll enjoy putting the pieces in the barn himself and will like the songs as he starts to understand better. I'm very happy with this toy.
