Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal SetCustomer Review: Musical fun for littles/volume control for parents Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my son after he fell in love with the one at his grandmother's house. He still really likes it and now that he is older (14 months when we bought it)he dances to the music. Overall it is a cute toy. Here is a summary:
Pros: Engaging, bright colors, the animal shapes are fairly easy for little hands to manipulate, relatively small foot print on the fridge, portable, off switch (yeah!), two volume levels.
Cons: Paint comes off easily when bitten/gnawed/scraped--as kids do, animal pieces can fit into little mouths if determined (mine is), portable--can become a projectile!
I wish the programming would announce a message as soon as an animal is created instead of them having to push both pieces together at once in order for the song about the animal to be activated.
Still, a fun toy for the price and helpful for when you need to be in the kitchen, just don't expect to hear much of anything else.
Customer Review: Good magnetic grasping! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my son who is of 2 and half year old and he loves to play with fridge magnets.
It comes with five animals half of each so total 10 pieces.
and my son loves the sound came from the unit.
It has five farm animals: the Cow,Sheep,Horse,Pig and duck
it comes in two volume levels.High, low and off button
the unit is so much sturdy that my son is also playing with it with his other toys.so it not only working for fridge but the babies can play anywhere. The whole unit is magnet so it is not dropped off from the fridge / dishwasher surface even though my son roughly play with the unit.
any half part of the animal speaks when he press it and it speaks the voice of that animal.for ex. the cow says MOOOOOO..he just love the sounds of any animals.
so after all the toy keeps busy for your baby when you are in the kitchen ares.
thanks for making such a gr8 toys specially with magnets !!!
Customer Review: cute Summary: 4 Stars
I just purchased this as a gift for my grandson's 1st birthday. Its cute but not as much as what I'd expected. Its a red barn with 4 different animals--each in 2 pieces. You can mix and match the pieces and they make sounds. It tells you when you've made a match and sings a short song about the animal and color as in WOW, you've made a purple cow-you made a cow. Then the cow will moo. Its all magnetic so will stay on the refrigerator or it can be played with on the floor. I do think Liam will like it since its bright, the music and voices are very clear and I'm sure he will be entrigued by it. I would purchase this again even if it wasn't quite what I expected. Leap Frog products are almost always great learning toys and theres only been 1 that I was somewhat disapointed in. However the baby I bought it for wasn't so what can I say--they're worth the money. I think parents and grandparents should buy as many of these toys as possible for their little ones.
Customer Review: Fun, engaging (and not very annoying) interactive farm toy Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter received this as a gift and has fun making it sing. The pieces are easy for her to grip and manipulate into position. The fact that they are magnetized makes it easier to keep track of. The music isn't too obnoxious and it has two volume levels, so it isn't one of those annoying toys with a loud tune that you'll find yourself singing at random moments because it is stuck in your head. The toy announces the animal, makes the noise of the animal, and sings a song when two pieces are put together, recognizing if they belong or not. It is really educational and accurate, and is fairly durable. The best part is that she can play with somehting in my small kitchen that isn't cluttering up the floor, tripping me up. I am finally able to let her be nearby when I am cooking or doing dishes, which works out for both of us. This was recommended by a mom, and I would recommend it to any parent who has had the dilemma of a child in the kitchen.
Customer Review: My toddler is obsessed! Summary: 5 Stars
Of all the gifts my daughter received this Christmas, she loves her magnetic Leap Frog Fridge Farm the most. She stands in front of the fridge dancing to the music and laughing/squealing and cries when she has to leave the toy.
The music and speaking voice are pleasant (and usually are from Leap Frog, in our experience) and not overly loud. It's light enough that she can take it off the fridge and carry it around but heavy enough so it stays in place. If I had another magentized surface, like a desk or interior door, I would buy another for her.
I bought this as a distraction so I could do work in the kitchen. She enjoys playing with the toy more than opening cupboards and she's so transfixed by it that she stays in one place where I can watch her.
She is also younger than the recommended age; my daughter is 16 mo. and I find the toy we have to be perfectly safe and age-appropriate for her use.
