Customer Review: Does Not Play Full Songs, I've Tried Everything!...

Thank goodness this was a gift because I'd be very annoyed at having paid for this. Before I started this review, I checked to see if other people had my problem, a few did, and some said you need to pull the tab in the back or change the batteries. I've done those things, it STILL will not play an entire song. Every song fades away after about 5 seconds. It's a shame cause my son (1½ old) loves this thing. We've had it about 6 months, but he's just recently started carrying it all over the place. The major downside is he has to continuously press the button to get the songs to play since they fade away so quickly. I've checked the back thinking maybe there was a switch that said 'Demo-mode', or maybe a tab that I missed...nope. Maybe I just got a lemon, which is a bummer since he seems to like it, but I just can not give this toy a good rating based on my experience with it.Customer Review: You don't *have* to put it on the Fridge

We got this as a present for my son's first birth day and he is 33 months old now. There has not been a day he has not played with this toy.
I thought it was a little big to put it on the Fridge. Also, it's kind of crazy to stick this on the fridge... in any case we don't let our one year old open or close the fridge. I was a bit amused when I found a reviewer complaining that his fridge got scratched.
I found a cabinet that is within easy reach of my son when he is eating his dinner on his high chair. I used the handle to affix it to the cabinet knob permanently. I had to use an extra long cabinet screw to do this. And so it has been for the past year and half. He ritualistically plays the songs when he eats his dinner to this day and he has become quite a pro at being a DJ.
One of the best toys I have owned/used.

This Leapfrog Fridge DJ Radio is adorable. It's not big and bulky (like one would reasonably expect for the retail price), but it's definitely small and portable. It's light-weight, won't take up much space on your fridge (it's about the size of other Leapfrog magnetic toys like the alphabet magnets' base or the word play recorder), and is great in the car during long and short roadtrips.
The only downsides are the fact that this toy needs frequent battery changes (if your kid constantly switches between the different functions, then think about investing in rechargable batteries), and the toy's small size - Leapfrog should seriously consider adding 'mini-radio' to the name. Also, the retail price is a bit high... so if you find this toy on sale anywhere, don't hesitate in buying it!

My 18 month old loves this thing. She stands in front of the fridge and plays all the buttons. We have no problem with the magnets...it sticks like a champ. When we first bought it, we thought it was a dud because it would only play the song for a few seconds and then fade out. The instructions don't tell you anything and we looked at the back of the machine and couldn't find anything. Then I gave it a real good look and I saw this little bit of plastic strip wedged inside the machine in a slot. I had to use a little screwdriver to get in there and dig it out. It was probably part of some kind of plastic tab that keeps the batteries from wearing down, but they only put part of the tab in when it was manufactured. Finally got the little piece of tab out and it plays fine now.Customer Review: songs are longer after removed from packaging

I bought this toy for my 18 month old son for Christmas. While the toy was still in the box my husband was disappointed because it only played seconds of songs. After we got the toy out of the packaging we realized that it did play the whole song. So much so that I sometimes wonder when it will stop playing! My son enjoys this toys and plays with it while I am in the kitchen. He really enjoys all of the songs and dances to them. I like it because it can stay on the fridge out of the way, it gives him something to do while I'm cooking and he is learning sounds, letters and numbers. My main point for this review is don't judge the length of the songs until you get it out of the packaging. They are much longer then the couple of seconds you here while in the packaging.
