This globe was not purchased for a child, it was given to an older adult. I have always been fascinated with globes, so when it went on super sale at Amazon, my daughter purchased it for me for Christmas. I was horrible in geography, and when the news would come on about different countries, I could never picture where it was happening. Now, I can follow the news, find the location, and information about the country. I even used it to help my granddaughter with a geography question, I just pulled out the globe and we spent half an hour learning together.Customer Review: Great for the Family

I bought this for my 7 yr old niece who wanted a globe. Someone told me about the Leap Frog. She just loves it, and so does her 14 year old sister and her Mom. Mom says she did not realize how uninformed she was until she played with the globe. They play the games together as a family, and my niece loves the music. This was a much better gift than a plain globe.
The little pencil could be more sturdy. Also, I suggest you purchase the AC Adapter, because if they like it as much as my family you will be purchasing batteries left and right.

the globe was a christmas gift for my 6 yo last year. Over the course of the year the globe has gone from deep dark storage to heavy use several times by my 10 yo, now 7 yo and my 4 yo. The sound quality is good enough so that it isn't annoying to use while someone else is working in the same room. Once kids start to read they can enjoy all of the quizzes, but non-readers can enjoy just listening to the different identifiers.
we have had occasional issues with the stylus slowing down, but that is less of a problem for older kids.

I am now returning my 2nd globe. The first one came apart(only held together with a small strip of tape) and once it is apart you can not get the inside peices to match correctly.
So I got a second one. The voice is all messed up, it talks when it's not being played with, and it says the wrong thing when you press different parts.(even with new batteries)..
I am going to try one more-b/c we had so much fun with it before the first one came apart (after the first time we played with it)!!!! Good luck
Customer Review: exceptional and fun learning tool, BUT...

This product is a favorite of my son. The globe offers a large selection of games as well as informative facts. My only problem is the the durablility. The globe has been handled with care twice. The "pen" has broken down on two different globes. After a relatively short period of time, the globe no longer responds to the pen. As this is not an inexpensive item, I can not give this product a big thumbs up. Fix the "gliche" as the salesperson called it, and you have an outstanding product. I am keeping my fingers crossed on globe #3....
