Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog® Explorer Smart GlobeCustomer Review: Do I have to give it up? Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this globe for my granddaughter, but had so much fun "trying it out" that I am seriously considering getting her something else and keeping this for me! Whoever said this was for children is missing the boat. This is a GREAT game for adults. It's smart, it's competitive and has enough variety to not get boring. In all fairness, mine is a slightly different version (plain Explorer rather than Explorer II) but from what I can tell it is about the same - just a slightly different base. It is a beautiful globe for a home reference and the interactive element is extremely easy to use. This is a gem.
Customer Review: A lifesaver for our highly gifted son Summary: 5 Stars
We have a son who is four and has an IQ above 150. We have found it quite difficult to find our son toys that will both challenge him intellectually yet not require the fine-motor skills of an eight year old child. The leap frog globe is perfect! It is highly durable and provides hours of fun and intellectual challenge. Our son plays with the globe for hours every day, and loves testing himself on various subjects (location of countries, capitals, etc.) The globe also has a carry over effect, in that it inspires our son to read about the countries of the world. This is the best investment in a toy we have ever made.
Customer Review: My cousins got this toy for their SEVEN grandkids to share Summary: 5 Stars
They started out with one just to play on Christmas Day. Then, the two families squabbled over "who got the globe." So, they got a second one. Note: these globes are still working despite the usual abuse that 3-boy families can dish out. Then, they missed the Leapfrog themselves (they're very young 60's) and got one for themselves. Now, they buy these globes for anyone on their list with children--and some of us who don't have kids still have a great time using them. When Geography is one of the poorest subjects among Americans, it's great to see a device like this created which makes learning fun.
Customer Review: Great globe Summary: 5 Stars
We love this globe. Although it is designed for older children, my daughter (age 5) loves playing with it. I'm sure she will "grow in to it" in a few years, especially once she starts school. However, she already has learned where the USA, China, Canada, Russia are and where a few other big countries are. My husband and I love playing the challenge game. It REALLY tests your knowledge of our world. This globe knows countries that we have never even heard of! Overall, we highly reccomend this globe to anyone who wants a fun and interactive way to learn about our world.
Customer Review: THIS GLOBE is a MUST-HAVE for any home! Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this globe for our 1st grade daughter for Christmas and our entire family loves playing with it. My 75 year-old father saw it on Christmas morning and enjoyed it so much that my mom asked me to order one for him. These are the kind of parents that have everything and never want anything...impossible for us to buy gifts for. BUT THEY BOTH WANTED THIS GLOBE. Just goes to show you there is no upper age limit for this globe. ANYBODY would enjoy this globe...even if they don't have kids. The pen is sometimes finicky, but not usually for very long, yet.
