I bought this globe for my then 5 year old, he didn't really get into it at first, but he's had 3 years to fall in love with it. This is such an interesting globe, our family will "play " this together. Touch the pen on a country and it will tell you the name. Turn the dial and it will then tell you the music of the country. Another turn of the dial, and it tells you the currency, population, etc. Now touch another country or state, and it will tell you how far apart they are, how long it takes to drive it (or even fly on a plane!)
It is a fantastic learning tool for the whole family. I am buying another one for my nephew. Since this is a bit costly, I waited until he was 7 to appreciate it.
I highly recommend this Globe.

My daughter recieved this toy last Febuary for her birthday. She had the flu at the time, and we all took turns "beating" each other finding the countries. (Her grandparents played the most!) We first purchased one in the store, and then returned it and ordered from the website, as it was the last one on the shelf after Christmas, and ahd a short in it- I'm sure it had been played with a lot!! It is actually a little over my six year old's head, and would probably be best suited for a 8 yr. old for the price, but she has played with it some since the first month. She doesn't think about it herself, but if I suggest it, she will play it for about an hour at a time. We bought this globe last year when my daughter was turning six and asked Santa to give her a "talking globe". She loves it. We all love it. We spent a lot of time playing with it and had many competitions. My daughter just turned seven. She can locate all the countries in the whole world. She can also name most of the capitals in the world and find them from the globe. Definately this globe helped her a lot. When she gets serious and in competition mood, she plays the "Countries" and "Capitals" games; when she is in the play mood, she listens to the music from different countries and practices sher dance steps and cartwheels with the music. It's been great, certainly worth the money. We can play with it and benefit from it for many years.Customer Review: Great learning tool

This globe is fun and entertaining. Lots of options are available for what you want to learn, from music to time to currency. Individual use works fine as well as playing "find _____" type games with others. Younger children especially enjoy the music from around the world.
Its achilles heel is the tip of the pen. Ours lost sensitivity within a month of use, which only encouraged my school aged kids to press harder on the pen/globe. We eventually learned that once the tip of the pen gets permanently damaged, this expensive globe is ONLY a globe. None of the computerized information can be accessed without the rubber tip!
Note: I selected 1 star for this toy's durability, but it keeps showing up as a 3 star!
Customer Review: The absolute BEST toy on the planet!

I cannot say enough about this toy. Our five-year old received it two weeks ago, for Christmas. He is glued to it several hours a day, and now knows more about geography than some adults! He literally jumped up and down for joy today when he realized tomorrow is Saturday(no school), and he will be able to play all day. He can find at least 50 countries, so amazing since he cannot yet read. It's so much fun for us to play together as well. And ok, I admit it, I play with it after he goes to bed, too:) As far as durability goes, I guess that remains to be seen. However, he has dropped it at least twice, and it still works perfectly. If we could only have one toy in the house, this would be it.
