Customer Review: Could be much better

My daughter is almost three and has been very interested in using our computers so this seemed like a good toy for her. The concept is great and even within the first hour her mouse skills improved dramatically. The games were entertaining but there isn't much substance to them. On that basis alone, this gets decent marks for fun and educational value.
Unfortunately, there are some major cons. Battery life, as indicated by many other reviewers. The mouse is not particularly well designed, the cord is somewhat stiff and the pad does not allow a full range of motion. Another issue with the hardware is that the keyboard sets up interference with my remotes, I can't access the TV when it is on. The keyboard itself uses cheap clicky keys which while providing some tactile feedback raise concerns about stress injuries. Overall, the technology level is very low in almost every aspect and it feels like its cutting too many corners, especially in the game design. Its enough to keep a three year old entertained the first time they use it but I can't imagine that this is the kind of toy a six year old would go back to.

I got this as a gift for my 4-year old son's birthday and he LOVES it. I've read other reviews complaining about the graphics which I think is silly. Of course the graphics look like the old Nintento--look at the console it's very similar. You want high quality graphics drop $300 bucks and get yourself a PS3. You want a gaming system that your kid will love and learn from buy the click start.
I like that my son can operate the click start on his own and is learning and having a ball. Also, the system itself is very portable--the mouse clicks into the keyboard and the console is small and lightweight.
Do be sure to buy yourself a wall adapter or pick up 4 C battaries for the console. You'll also need 4 AA battaries for the keyboard which, despite what Amazon says, are not included.
I compared the click start to the v smile too and it blows it away--the click start is more fun, more educational and is adorable. I also think it's great that my son is using a keyboard and a mouse, building computer skills that he will be using as he gets older.

As a teacher, I'm always looking for interactive learning opportunities for my kids (2 and 4). This seemed like an excellent concept, and I was very pleased with the basic game that it came with. It has two level options, the first one just getting the child acquainted with clicking and pressing buttons and the second level taking it a step farther with letter ID and spelling activities. My children have not used the computer much, so it was perfect for them. That particular game may be too easy if your child has already used the regular computer a lot. In any case, I thought this game system was really great until some of the keys stopped working. The O and the K no longer work on the keyboard, which is a real problem when you are doing spelling games! I'm beyond the three month warranty period, however this game system had not been used much at all. We just aren't into watching TV much, so we didn't use it very often. I'd say that we probably totaled about 2-4 weeks of average use, yet it still broke that quickly. VERY disappointing for an expensive toy from LeapFrog.Customer Review: Mouse froze on TWO of these computers! UGH!

I am so frustrated! I just wasted an hour of my life trying to get my SECOND Leapfrog Clickstart computer to work. I received one as a gift for my daughter and she was able to play with it for about 5 days before the mouse froze rendering the product useless. I then went out and bought another one for her and we couldn't even get the thing to work for one day! I tried EVERYTHING that I could in my power (changed all batteries, tried different TV's, manipulated every wire and button that I could) to no avail. I could barely understand the woman in customer service. She recommended that I clean the mouse connection (underneath yet another batch of screws) with rubbing alcohol...yeah, like i would have thought of THAT! Didn't work, and now she is sending me a replacement in the mail (after I mail the first one back) and I am wondering if it is even worth it? Should have read these reviews first! I agree about kids toys lately...they are a pain to get out of their packaging and then they break/don't work shortly afterwards. Money down the toilet!Customer Review: LOVE IT!!!!

Bought this for our 3 year old's birthday and he absolutely LOVES IT!!! He was always interested in playing with our home computer and when I happened to see this while birthday shopping I bought it without reading the reviews, when i got home and read the reviews I was glad I bought it, now that he has actually played with it I am thrilled with this purchase!!! He adores this system and it is really educational, it is something I don't mind him playing with for hours on end which he frequently does. We are actually thinking about geting a TV especially for this since he uses it so much. He is learning so much from this system and on my work days when he is home with dad I can send him a postcard before I leave and he is thrilled to wake up and get his "mail". This is definitely one of the best purchases we have made.
As far as the keyboard, it turns itself off after about five minutes, it will turn itself back on as soon as it is moved but it stays off after we put it away for the night!
If you have preschoolers this is a MUST HAVE!!!
