Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Alphabet PalŪ Caterpillar (Colors May Vary)

Customer Review: Cute learning toy.
Summary: 4 Stars

Even though my son is only 9-months-old he enjoys playing with this toy when he goes to his grandma's house as she is the one who bought it for him and keeps it by her. The only difference is ours is green which I personally like much better.

My son, even at his young age, is very into "pulling" things around so hey, adding a string to any toy is a plus for him. Since the alphabet is one of the most essential things toddlers learn and one of the first they pick up, this is defitnely a cute. interesting and different way for them to learn it.

I'm sure he'll get much more use from it as he gets older. I love plastic toys as they are very easy to wipe down as well.

And I will also just mention, that yes my mother bought this item at *another* location and for much cheaper. That's all the hint I am giving you. :)

Customer Review: great toy, but no censorship!
Summary: 4 Stars

OK, this toy is great and my son loves it. I love the alphabet song it plays and the colors, letter, and phonics will help him learn. I have one very large complaint about the toy. You can't spell some normal words when in phonics mode due to (I'm sure) some previous complaints about kids spelling out "bad" words. The letters A and S cannot be used next to one another, so my husbands name, Jason, can't be spelled. The caterpillar just giggles and says "hee, hee, that tickles." There are other combinations of letters that cannot be used together, as well, and my husband had a really fun time trying to find all of them! Now I may be a more liberal parent, but I don't feel it is right to censor a toy! My son should learn how to spell and sound out all the sounds he chooses. OK, I've said my peace.

Customer Review: Adorable
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read some of the reviews. This is not a toy for all parents or all children, but isn't it that way with most everything. This toy sings about 25 songs, says the alphabet, gives sounds and you can pull it. My seven month old granddaughter loved it. Yes it is too advanced, but we will take it out periodically. She listens to the sounds and the songs at this time. I don't think it is meant for an out and out giggle; and I think it is best played with an adult and child in a learning play session. A short one. I thought the value for the price at Christmas was unbelievable and with free shipping. Would recommend to anyone, especially quieter infant/toddlers who like to sit a little more and listen. There really are those; I have had the tornado children; this might not be for them.

Customer Review: Good but Annoying
Summary: 3 Stars

This toy is fun for my son, and he enjoys pushing the buttons, pulling the string, and hearing the alphabet song, the songs, the colors, the letters. But it has one very annoying feature for adults - after 15 seconds of not being played with (which is a VERY short time) it announces that it's turning itself off "Thank you for playing with Leapfrog. Bye bye" in a sugary voice. Which is enough to get my son to touch it again. So it turns on again "Hello, I'm Alphabet Pal". But after 15 seconds turns off, noisily. So my son pushes it. So it comes on again. Then it turns off. I end up grabbing it and scrabbling for the off button, which mercifully does exist. It's just annoying, and detracts from what would otherwise be a great toy.

Customer Review: Absolutely LOVE this toy!
Summary: 5 Stars

Our 16 month old received this for Christmas and here it is nearly spring time and she has yet to put it down! Not only does she know how to pull it along to make it sing the alphabet, but she can press each colored foot to hear the color or letter, plus learn the sound each letter makes and she even dances along with the tunes on each leg. This toy is pretty durable too -- our tot loves to twist things and she hasn't managed to destroy even one foot on this lovable lavender Leap pal! The voice is clear and volume goes either low or high with separate settings for music, alphabet and letter sounds. We are thrilled with this toy and hope our newborn someday dsfin as much enjoyment in it as our toddler has.
