Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Alphabet PalŽ Caterpillar (Colors May Vary)

Customer Review: Boring and annoying!
Summary: 2 Stars

My son received this a few months ago for his first birthday. I did not expect much from this toy at first as the recommended age starts at 12 months. Now at almost 18 months, he still cares nothing for the toy. He doesn't pull it along, push the buttons - NOTHING. If I turn it on, he looks around to see where the noise is coming from, but then goes back to playing with something else. It does not seem to matter what mode it is in, he just doesn't seem interested. Also, the voice on this is slightly high-pitched and is annoying. I intend to give it a little more time to see if eventually he will become interested in this. Other children I know have not been interested in this toy either when they have received it as a gift, so I know it is not just my child. Sadly, as much as I have enjoyed his other LeapFrog toys, I would not recommend this one for fun color and alphabet learning.

Customer Review: Very nice, but not until baby is about 2yrs old
Summary: 5 Stars

This review is based on potential future use, not really for "now". I bought this for our 1yr old son because he LOVES music. It plays a ton of songs. It also helps babies learn how to pronounce their letters. But he's only 14mo old now... and is just starting to talk. He's not at all interested in anything but the songs. Each little foot on the toy will play a song...so, he doesn't really stay on one song for very long. It tends to drive us parents nuts.! But at least the songs are good, and sound good too.The toy does a lot of other cool and educational things as well. I really think that he will get a lot out of it when he's 2yrs old or older. So my advice is to wait until they are talking better and more interested in learning. But for the price, it's good for the 1yrs olds just to bang on to make sounds. Keeps his attention for a while, so I guess that's good.

Customer Review: Another great toy from LeapFrog!
Summary: 5 Stars

While having no luck teaching my 1˝ year old daughter the alphabet, I bought this for her for Christmas. She loves it!

The little legs not only tell you the letter if you push them, but you can switch what they do. They can also tell you the sound of the letter or the color. When my daughter pulls it around the house, it sings the ABC song.

It does tend to tip over, but with all those little legs... it's bound to. It also has a loud or quiet volume on it.

It's now July and she still plays with it! It still holds her interest.

Another good thing about it... you can push the legs for the sounds of the letters and make words. And if you try making it say a 'bad word'... it won't! Ok, so I was bored one night and was playing with it after the kids were asleep :)

This toy is great and I would recommend it for any child starting to learn the alphabet!

Customer Review: Cute little entertainment
Summary: 4 Stars

Both my 3 year old (Kayla) and my 18 month old (Kye) love this toy. It was a Christmas gift for my youngest, but the two of them are always fighting over it.

Kayla likes to press the legs and hear the different letters where Kye just loves to run around the house pulling it by the string. Although Kye's newest use is teething on the "antennas." (It's so cute to see his cheeks light up as he presses the feet while the antenna are in his mouth.)

I recommend this toy not necessarily as an educational one, but as a fun and entertaining one.

Just a bit of advice, as a touch sensitive toy I would not recommend storage in a toy chest or bucket. If there is constant pressure against the feet it can wear the battery or even loosen the connections in the feet. We store ours on a shelf with the rest of the press toys.
