My daughter received this item as a gift for her 2nd birthday. She knows the alphabet and sings along with the Alphabet Pal as she pulls it from room to room. She will also repeat the letter sounds when she see's the corresponding letters on the feet. She is currently learning her colors, and because of this toy, she knows all four colors that the Alphabet Pal teaches after only one week of having this toy. The only reason I did not give this item 5 stars is because I would have like to see more colors. It only teaches blue, red, yellow, and green. It has 26 feet, so a few more colors would have been nice.Customer Review: So annoying I gave it away

When your child presses on the feet of the caterpillar, it says the name of the letter on the foot pressed, or the sound that letter makes, or the color of the foot, or it plays a song. My son liked the thing -- that's why I gave it more than one star. Even on the quieter setting, the toy is really really loud and incredibly annoying. I personally don't like toys that play music or make the sounds for the kids -- we love musical instruments that allow the kids to make their own sounds! If you want your child to learn letters and "letter sounds" from a toy, try Leapfrog Fridge Phonics.Customer Review: Great for even young babies!

I love this toy! I bought it for my daughter at 7 months. She didn't show much interest in it until at about 9 months when she watched her three year-old cousin play with it. At that point she loved it! She pulls the string constantly and dances to the toy singing the "ABC's". I know she's too young to understand most of the toy but I know this one will be around for a while. It's also always a big hit when other kids come over! This toy is how my nephew finally got the ABC's down and how he polished up on letter names and sounds. I would HIGHLY recommend this toy!Customer Review: Imaginarium = crappo

I placed an order for this on Jan 6th 2005 and had it sent directly to my niece for her first birthday, which was Jan 14th. It said it normally ships 24 hours from order, so I figured that was plenty of time to get it to her - 8 days? Well, it is January 15th and it didn't even arrive yet. I finally checked online at UPS and it won't get to her until Monday.
It should ship directly from Imaginarium, I see. Well, it took them 7 days to ship it, not 24 hours. That really frustrates me. It shouldn't say "24 hours" then. They should take that off and change it right away.

I really like the LeapFrog products, we have quite a few. But this caterpillar has an annoying voice. My son likes it for a few minutes, then even he gets sick of it and turns it off. I like the concept, but the voice could be better. And I don't understand why it plays Christmas music for some of the letters. The legs easy to push, and the pronunciations are great too. My son really likes the way he "walks", wobbling back and forth. We also bought one for our nephew who isn't talking. His mom says it has helped him with sounds and words, so that makes me feel better!
