Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Phonics Writing DeskCustomer Review: Best toy of its kind Summary: 5 Stars
We were looking for a toy to help with the identification of letters and correct formation. Sometimes a child listens better to a toy then to Mommy;) My oldest was 4 and has sat with this toy for countless hours and is doing great with her phonics now that shes 5 1/2yrs and in K. My youngest is 3yrs and can already identify 90% of her letters and is writing at least 10 of them. I am now buying a 2nd one because they fight over the one we have they love using it so much. I highly recommend this. You can sit and help them with it, they will amaze you:)It wont correct spelling but a parent should be involved with seeing them write correctly and cheering them on so that does not bother me. GREAT LEARNING TOOL!
Customer Review: The best money spent on a toy Summary: 5 Stars
This toy was purchased for my son when he was three. He at first said he didn't want to play with it because it was "homework". But then it became one of his favorite toys and mine...he was learning and having fun at the same time! The thing I like most about the toy is that it not only teaches the sounds of the alphabet but also how to write the letters which few others toys do. It is very durable as Jacob now has two other brothers who "play" with it and it is still in great working order. We loved this toy so much we purchased the other leapfrog math desk that teaches numbers, addition etc and it is also a great product. These make perfect gifts!
Customer Review: Excellent learing tool Summary: 4 Stars
My child tried to write immediately whereas previously showed no interest even at 4 yrs. The immediate success was a great confidence builder and being able to see the fruit of your effort right in front of you (unlike other electronic toys) was a shot of confidence. Love that it addresses both upper- and lower-case letters, since most similar products tend to focus on upper case letters, and a child won't learn to read that way! Great idea, great product, excellent learning tool. I wish my child's school had these for all the students. I gave only four stars because it would simply need a larger writing area to make it 100% perfect.
Customer Review: Truly the best toy since "Speak and Spell".... Summary: 5 Stars
My 4 year old son received this for Christmas last year and he loved it. He is almost five now and he can read, spell and write ANY three letter word!! This is his FAVORITE TOY! My three year old daughter also loves it. They both know every sound for letter, and every letter....even how to write them.I only wish it had the capability for four letter words. I have looked ALL OVER for something similar to do larger words without luck! I would highly recommend this for any child who is learning letters, phonics or beginning reading. The different levels are :Letters, Phonics and Three Letter Words. An toy!
Customer Review: VERY VERY educational... Summary: 4 Stars
I majored in Elem. Ed. in college and worked in a pre-school for a few years. And I can say that the format of this "toy" is WONDERFUL for learning reading and writing skills. It gives a child the ability to learn independently (which is very important), but it also allows for parental involvement or peer involvment (good for sharing). The letters are colorful and the graphics and sounds are very "child-friendly." And the method of writing instruction is slow enough for beginners. I think this is a wonderful accent to school lessons. I would DEFINITELY recommend it for new readers and writers.
