Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Phonics Writing DeskCustomer Review: Caution on teaching children Uppercase Letters first! Summary: 5 Stars
While this toy seems very useful, parents are advised that children should be learning how to spell and write lower case letters BEFORE they learn the capital letter symbols. When children read books or see words in print in most places, they will NOT see words printed in all capital letters. The younger the children, the more important it is to learn first words in lower case letters because that will transfer more quickly to reading words in books. Unfortunately, most of the toys offered of this kind only provide practice with capital letters.
Customer Review: just perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
my 4yo has really been getting into writing letters lately. she'll be starting school in 8mts so i was getting worried she wouldnt be writing in time! since she got this shes' been able to write nearly the entire alphabet.the letters are right there for her to see how they should be and since she can erase her mistakes they're not right there for her to be frustrated that she messed up that time before. she can start clean. even my 1.5yo loves it! she can press the letters to hear what it is. and she uses the screen to draw pictures on.
Customer Review: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent educational toy. My daughter who just turned 2 spends long hours with this and takes this with her during car rides too. She can even write some of the letters. This is a must for those little tots who needs to learn in a fun sort of way. The toy teaches how to write upper and lower case letters. In addition teaches phonics and making three letter words. Really cool toy. It even has 2 adjustable volume settings...so parents are not always annoyed with letters repeating all over and over again in the background.
Customer Review: A great learning toy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for a kindergartener that needed work on letter sounds and how to write them. She loved it. It's a great way to teach letter sounds. The best part is that it teaches directionality of upper and lower case letters before kids get into practicing them the wrong way. I just bought another one for my 4 year old son, who couldn't care less about learning letters sounds and how to write them. I find him playing this on his own everyday....he really enjoys it, and is learning in a fun way. It's a worthwhile learning toy.
Customer Review: My Son's Favorite Toy Summary: 5 Stars
I let my son play with this by himself and now he recognizes ALL of his letters by site, can write most of them and is so proud of himself. He even knows the sounds they make and can spell at least 10 three letter words. My son just turned 4. We are amazed and wanted to recommend this toy to other parents.
The only improvement I think should happen is the writing area should be larger and more durable. Currently it is too small for little hands and scratches very easily.
Overall this is a great learning tool.
