Like just about everyone else, the antennae broke off within minutes of a child playing with it - I think it dropped about 6 inches and hit the ground and that's all she wrote. I figured surely I could solder it back together or get a replacement antennae for $1 - Nope. None of them fit and it didn't take to the solder.
I would have returned it for a full refund but my boy DID love it for the 15 minutes he got to play with it - and since it was a Christmas present I looked to implement Plan B - which was to find another remote with the same controls and the same Mhz (in this case 49 Mhz - check your own item to confirm what the frequency is if you too have a broken remote).
Luckily I was able to find a cheap RC toy in a local discount store that had the same controls and same Mhz - that required spending another $12 but it was cheaper than waiting to get a used 49 Mhz RC off of Ebay. Unfortunately those controls do work, but they're backwards (forward is actually backwards etc.) - but generally my son adapted to that easy enough.
Too bad the retailer (who did give a small refund based on my complaint) doesn't just replace the defective remote. Other remotes just use unbreakable wires rather than a breakable antennae and they'd probably only cost the retailer a few bucks direct from China.
My item was further "defective" in that it didn't play the loud irritating music everyone refers to - but in this case that defect is a big plus. So basically, unless the price on this is so great that you don't mind going out to spend another $10 - $15 on another RC vehicle with the same remote at the same frequency, I wouldn't buy this product.
