Toys and Games Reviews of Lego Star Wars Episode III Millennium Falcon

Customer Review: It's beautiful...don't miss out.
Summary: 4 Stars

I just recently bought this for my 5 year old Star wars fanatic. Being an experienced Lego builder, I guided him through the building process, which was pretty sophisticated for this level of Lego set. All the other reviews here are correct, this thing is awesome! Plenty of interior detail, including: many hand tools, Han, Leia, C3PO, Snowtrooper, and Chewie (NO R2D2, though!!). The ramp and escape pod are nice, as is the hyper-drive area and gun turret seat and game table areas.

I can tell you how cool it is all day but here are my gripes: First, the architecture and weight of the falcon lends to alot of stress to the area just below the main gun turret, which supports the front and the rear of the ship through two hidden beams in the floor (the roof, escape pod bay and ramp area give no structural support to the falcon). If you plan to display your falcon, no prob, but if you plan to fly it, this can pose a problem. If you have spare Legos from other kits, you will want to consider making a hidden chassis built off the two long beams under the floor beneath the gun turret extending forward and aft to strengthen the falcon (there is room in the floor because of the sandwich style nature of the floor so that no one can see your modification BUT you WILL need to remove some of the black bricks to do this). As a matter of fact, while doing that, I also made the fenced floor piece that comes with the set removeable for the hidden compartment like in the movie (I can fit 3 figures under the floor panel now!!!). The modifications are best done once you assemble the kit first according to instructions then going back to mod. My second gripe is that the hallway that leads to the cockpit from the rest of the ship doesn't exist. Bummer. And the third gripe is that this design forgot to include the lower gun turret/laser cannon underneath the ship, though this is an easy fix with spare parts from other sets you may own.

Even with these shortcomings, the set was WELL worth buying. IT IS EASILY THE BEST STAR WARS LEGO SET RELEASED. My son absolutely loves playing it and I enjoy making mods to the 'ole Falcon, kinda like Han Solo himself did. Hope this review helps you in your quest for your Star Wars Lego collection!

Customer Review: Very fun in most ways
Summary: 5 Stars

Over all, this set is very fun. When I first put it together, a brick fell of of the front, I went to put it back, and when I pushed it in, the whole thing fell in half! It was imposible to put that together, or at least for me. So I pulled it all apart and started from scratch. But that was OK, this model was very fun to put together. It took about 3 hours. But since I put it together again, it hasn't fallen apart. So just push in the pieces really tight, and it SHOULD stay together(did for me). But this on of the top ten lego models I've played with. It's got a ramp. Which, unfortunatly, is very hard to mske paople walk up. But it's pretty cool how you pull the little knob on the side and it lowers down. Next, the little escape pod. Lift up the knob on the other side and pull it out. Pretty cool. Then, I guess it's the cargo hold. When you lift up one of the little flaps to see indide, its under one of those with a little box with binoculars in it. Lift up the middle to see inside the gunning room. Not much there. And the cockpit, although you can squeeze both Han and Chewie in it, is much smaller than in real life. Also, unlike the movie version, there's no hallway from the cockpit to the main ship. But this ship has more pros than cons and i would deffinently reccomend it.

Customer Review: hours of fun
Summary: 4 Stars

My parents bought this toy for my 6 year old for Christmas. It took us 2-3 hours to build, mainly because Lego does not organize the pieces in any logical fashion. This toy is much different from the legos that I built as a kid, it has tons of specialized individual pieces, and is more like building a model than a traditional Lego toy. In fact, my son has a couple of these Star Wars lego toys and once we built them we put them up on the shelf in his room for display.

Lego makes it easy for kids to put these together. The instructions are actually very nice. The age range is 9-up but my kid is 6 and he was able to read and understand the directions (I just sit and make sure that he puts the pieces together tightly).

Once assembled, I wouldn't recommend playing with it as the Lego joints can't handle twisting force very well and some joints fall apart no matter how tightly you put them together.

The only part of the model I found poor, was the entrance platform: no matter how tightly you secure the pieces, opening the door more than a couple times pulls the piston away from the connecting piece. Easily fixed, but this part of the design could have been better.

Customer Review: A great model to build and display; a great playset too.

This version of the Millenium Falcon is similar in size to the one that Lego released a few years ago, but the design is quite a bit different. The orginal had less than 700 pieces; this one has nearly 1000! (Always a plus in my opinion.)

In fact, you could say that this incarnation is the "Empire Strikes Back" escape-from-Hoth version. (Collectors note: (...) The new Leia is NOT the same as the "New Hope" version packaged with the original Falcon.)

Mini-figs included: Chewbacca, C-3PO, Han Solo and Leia (in Hoth garb), and a Snow Trooper (w/ large tripod-mounted gun).

Improvements over the original release: much improved escape pod design, easy access to ALL of the interior, very cool hyperdrive design.

The only possible problem (as I see it): less durable for play perhaps BECAUSE of the easy-access-to-interior design. (And, now that I think about it, they should have included a couple of Mynocks. :) Oh well...)

Still, quite a bit of fun to build and play with. Even if you have the original, this may be worth a look. If you never picked up the original release, what are you waiting for? (...)

I am 18 and recieved this set for Christmas.. Believe me.. this is not a fragile toy if built correctly.. although i don't really approve of the way The Lego Company decided to attach the forward and rear 'round' segments.

As for landing gear, yes, they are fragile indeed. but if you have big hands like I do, you should have NO problem getting them back on. All I do is hold the whole bottom of the ship, with the grey section (IMO: the center weight) in the bottom of my palm.

It took me all of an hour to get this thing built and displayed. I like this one so much more then the original that Lego released. The escape pod is more... realistic? Occupants are not going to die of oxygen starvation.

It has a lot more parts then the original. I think it's cool the way that if done correctly, you can effectivly take the whole ship and split it in two.. and if you have jedi minifigures.. you can use the space in the assembly above the boarding ramp ( the grey 6x4 plate comes off to reveal a space just big enough for 3 or 4 lightsabers)

I love this set!
