This was the first set of legos that we purchased for our kids. Our kids loved it so much that we have purchased several other sets since then. This set includes 405 pieces and is a good set to start with building plate, mini people, windows, doors and wheels. Book contains pictures that show how to build about 30 different items. The tub is large enough to hold several additional sets. If you are thinking about purchasing this set then watch the price because some of the sellers on Amazon overprice these sets.Customer Review: Great Legos for Reasonable Price

I got this for my sons aged 5 and 7. Great value, hate all the little teeny, tiny pieces that will FOR SURE get lost, swept up, vacuumed up,e tc., but otherwise a great starter set for kids. Good booklet too with building ideas, however I wish they had included more building ideas, especially to stimulate the imagination of my younger son. Overall, excellent produce though. Only one suggestion to lego with this kind of container -- maybe a sub section just for the teeniest of pieces? Otherwise, overall A+Customer Review: LEGOS FOR THE FUTUR BUILDER

Although Legos are the ultimate toy for creativity and imagination, it would be nice if the size of the Legos were made clear to the buyer.
My grandchildren love to play with Legos but now I have 3 different sizes which makes it hard for the two of them to share since none of the boxes of Legos has enough pieces for 2 children to play with.
I do most of my shopping on line and I wish that Legos would make it clear as to the size and number of pieces of the Legos contained in the box.

I bought this for my five year-old brother for Christmas and he really enjoys them. They're durable and brightly colored and the green foundation allows for the construction of whatever imagination dictates. The box it comes in is nice and has extra room for the storage of additional Legos or other toys. There is a pretty good diversity of block types and includes a few special pieces, as well as a person and wheels and a helicopter/airplane propeller ensuring that even flying machines can be built.Customer Review: not for younger kids

I'm giving this a 3 star review to be fair because my 2 boys are almost 2.5 and 4 years old. So they're not really in the target age range for Legos.
But having said that, they don't like them at all. They LOVE standard blocks and card board blocks though.
So I recommend that you not buy it for really young kids. But who knows, my kids may grown into these.
I also didn't like that most of the pieces were of the smaller variety.
