Customer Review: Lack of building base plate makes set almost useless out of box.

So, with all these hundreds of pieces you get one green base plate of about six sqare inches, which is almost useless, and a few even smaller base plate type pieces, which are indeed useless.
There's plenty of room for a decent size base plate or two, or three or four, but If I want a base plate that can actually be used, like one that's ten or fifteen inches on a side, I need to go out and pay extreme amounts of money for them to buy them seperately (extreme considering they are single pieces of injection molde plastic).
So, open your wallet, get out that credit card, and welcome to the wonderful world of legos!

The box for holding the Lego pieces is great. However the box is packaged with more air than anything else. In reality, 405 pieces just isn't really that much, and they probably take up about 1/4 of the box. The building plate that is included is about 6in x 6in... real small! The box does come with a nice spread of pieces and is suitable for a small starter set. Plan on supplementing this box with some other small Lego sets to fill up the box. If I had to do it again, I would probably just order one of the more pricey sets. Luckily I had saved all of my Legos from my childhood and filled the box with some more creations.Customer Review: Classic starter set for ANY age

This is the lego set of kids dreams! Comes with many pieces in mixed sizes and colours. Also comes with a green plate in the top to display any of your lego creations. The box is sturdy, see-through top is a mom's best friend, and the collection that comes with this box does not fill it up to the top, so you can add additional Legos that you buy later or already have! GREAT STORAGE BOX, I absolutely love it! Box is not big or obnoxious for easy storage anywhere. If your kid loves Legos, and needs a great place to store them: Get this box! If your child is new to Lego: Buy this box, its a great starter set for any age!Customer Review: We love it

We love this kit. My 4 year old plays with it for hours and makes all sorts of interesting vehicles and machines. We honestly never have noticed a lack of base plates as some reviewers noted. The other complaint was the lack of fullness for the box. I admit we felt the same for about 5 minutes until we realized we finally had a great place to store all the other small sets of lego we had accumulated. I think Lego was smart to allow extra space. Anyway, people should lighten up and let the kids just play. I know we all loved lego growing up, but are the kids disappointed, or just the parents?Customer Review: Legos! Yay!

I wish these people would stop complaining, yes, Legos are getting expsensive, but it is what it is people...
Kit came delivered as advertised, and on time I add.
Me and my son had a BLAST!!! Yes, we will be buying more. The box is HUGE and would EASILY hold 5 of these kits.
My son is happy, thus, I am happy.
Lego quality is impecable.
This is such a no-brainer buy, yeah it costs a lil more than you expected, so what, your kid(s) will love it.
Its LEGO's, what else do I say??? LOL... but yea, this is the big kit, enjoy!
