Toys and Games Reviews of LEGO Star Wars Jedi Starfighter and Vulture DroidCustomer Review: "It's not as much fun to pick up the pieces" Summary: 4 Stars
Everybody wants to point out how "fragile" this set is. And, while I'm not going to deny the fact that a wing or two may come flying off at you once in a while, I will say that that shouldn't take away from the appeal of this set. If you are going to zoom a Lego around a room, yeah... you're going to have a piece break off now and again. So what? Pick it up and put it back on. Anyway, in my opinion, Anakin's Starfighter is one of the sleekest vehicles in the Episode III line. It was also the first Sith set to be available, coming out almost a month before the remaining nine (for whatever that's worth). It has some unique pieces (the windshield, the yellow wings) and some crafty uses of other ones (the fire-hose nozzles as side guns).
The Vulture Droid that chases Anakin through the stars is a definite step-up from the original, butt-ugly-brown Droid Fighter set of past years, while the Starfighter is as fresh a ship as the Tri-Fighter or even the ARC-170 Fighter--also featured in the Sith line. During the assembling process, there are a number of tedious steps that can get you frustrated (including applying many stickers to both ships); but the outcome is worth it. Again, I have had little problem with feebleness on either the Vulture Droid or Starfighter and if you know how to handle your Lego's, you shouldn't either. Anakin's ship has three extendable legs that hold it up, while the droid sits nicely on his own (rotating) wings. Putting this set together took about 35 minutes, which is pretty average for a piece count of just over 200. As I said, it was at times tedious, but nonetheless an easy and fun put-together.
I see no reason why anyone would be disappointed with this set. If you're going to zoom it amongst the stars, there is a perfectly accessible 4x6 plate (under Anakin) where you can grab a hold. And with two ships there is enough substance for two people, while the ships are small enough to be carried by one person should you opt not to share. In the end, set #7256 is more durable than most make it out to be. It is a great set for displaying and is reasonably priced considering it features two vehicles and that, overall, it looks so neat. You can decide from there, but I'd recommend it.
Description of LEGO Star Wars Jedi Starfighter and Vulture DroidAnakin Skywalker fights the greatest space battle of all, as he confronts the power of the Vulture Droids in his Jedi Starfighter. Only a master of the Force can defeat these powerful opponents, but does Anakin have what it takes to win. It includes Anakin Skywalker figure and 202 LEGO building pieces. Lego has done it again; giving us another awesome addition to their Star Wars collection, this time with this two-piece Revenge of the Sith set. You construct both the Jedi Starfighter that Anakin Skywalker (figure included) pilots in combat, as well as the Vulture Droid of the Separatist arsenal. Both of these models stand alone as finely detailed Lego units equipped with some of the best decals you?ll find. The instructions take you step by step through the simple assembly of both vehicles so there is no difficulty in achieving results. Have fun outfitting the models following the step-by-step directions or go off on your own to create unique Star Wars ships. This is a Lego product so you?ll want to be aware of the numerous small pieces that aren?t suited for young children (recommended 7+ years of age). There?s fun to be had with this toy for Star Wars collectors or Lego fans alike! --Chip Quinn
