Toys and Games Reviews of LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader's TIE Fighter (8017)Customer Review: Very cool; fun to build and stays together well Summary: 5 Stars
This is a super fun Lego set. It is fun to build and comes with Darth Vader and his light saber. Once everything is together it stays together pretty well so you can play with it.
My husband actually built it, but my 4 year old son likes to play with it. Occasionally the wings fall off or the light saber falls out of the holder in the bottom, but both things are easy to put back together, so its not a huge deal.
The tie-fighter itself has neat functionality, Darth Vader fits well in the pilots seat and the front opens and closes easily.
Not the best set for a young child to put together and not the best if your kid is into rough pretend play. But it stays together well enough for some occasional pretend play and was fun to put together.
Customer Review: Nice but Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this for my 7 year old Grandson because he loves all things StarWars. He has been to Legoland and just had to have this. Thank goodness he has his older brother and sister because they had to build it. He did put together Darth Vader and I think that alone was worth the purchase. Now that it is built he wants to play with it but of course it just breaks apart. No worries he loves it anyway. I would not recommend this for any household with small children. The parts are tiny, some as small as a 1/4" or less.
The older kids loved putting it together and it kept them busy all evening.
Very important to follow the instruction booklet provided right from the start.
Great product for the right age group.
Customer Review: Awesome Lego set Summary: 5 Stars
My 6 year old got this set for Christmas and while he needed some help with putting it together he was thrilled with how "cool" it is. I will say it does fall apart pretty easily, even for someone who doesn't really "play" with it... it's more of a display piece. We fixed that problem by reassembling it and super-glueing pieces together. This has worked out great. Just make sure you don't make a mistake when putting it together... because they will not come apart. He likes that he doesn't have to worry about losing peices or his little brother breaking them. We've decided to glue all the Lego sets he likes best and doesn't want to take apart. He likes this so much were shopping for more Star Wars sets.
Customer Review: Fabulous anniversary set! Summary: 5 Stars
If you have a Star Wars Lego lover in your house, DON'T pass on this set! It is extremely durable, stands up to hours of play, and of course, the intricate designs that makes Lego famous are here in full resound. The cockpit for Darth even has a special place cut out in the bricks so that he can wear his full outfit, including his mask, quite comfortably. The hatch raises and lowers and there's even a spot on the bottom for extra light sabers. This guy went together in about 45 minutes by a nine-year-old and it's just the cat's meow in the neighborhood. Darth Vader is great as a minifigure and his face is even painted on the head. Great, great toy, loved a ton in this house. Highly recommend!
Customer Review: Great Gift for Star Wars Fans Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this Lego as a birthday present for my son--needless to say he is a great Star Wars Fan-- who turned 8. This is definitively the most accurate Lego I have bought to him. The design is just like the original TIE Fighter even the wings bend a bit to simulate the flying. Just a little remark and it is that if you are buying this toy for children under 7, you need to be near them as the booklet is not very specific on how to assemble the parts at some points. Also, it is not meant for rough play as parts fall apart easily. Besides that, I can tell you that any Star Wars lover will not be disappointed with this toy.
