My 3.5 plays with duplo blocks all the time. We've always kept it pretty simple with a buildplate, a few people and animals, and a few cars and trains. But oh boy does he LOVE this fire truck. What a big hit! This will require some assembly help for most kids but since the first few times he now makes his all. And it has several interesting configurations. The ladder has a life of its own and gets into a lot of mischief. Excellent quality.
We avoid toys with batteris and flashing lights but the small light on top of the fire truck is also much loved.
Edited to add that I really like the larger size truck cab and back. We've had lots of fun building other monkey powered rocket ships too!

Well-enjoyed by our just 4 year old grandson. He is a quick learner, so put this together with no assistance. Each time we speak on the phone he tells me how much he loves it. His 2 year old sister also likes playing with it, albeit for different reasons. I thought that the next one up ( for 5 + years) would not be as much fun for him because the reviews claimed that the younger children needed help with it, so purchased this one even though I thought he might outgrow it in a few months. I think that when he is old enough for the 5 yr. model, that he will be happy to include the duplo truck in his army of fire trucks. A great toy!!Customer Review: Eh...

I read other reviews and decided to purchase this product because my 2-1/2 year old loves Lego's and firetrucks right now. The product is totally adorable when put together, but he has very little interest in it after about 5 minutes. He would much rather play with his regular Lego's because there are so many more possibilities for the imagination. As far as fire trucks go, the product is not very fun because as it is made of Lego's, it falls apart rather quickly.Customer Review: Great for a Fireman Obscessed 3-year old.

My son is 3 and totally obsessed with all things firemen.
My parents bought him a toy firetruck but this is way better.
The beauty of Legos is he can play rough and it will fell apart, but unlike other toys it can be put back together again.
Legos are pricey and you get very few pieces with this, but it is worth the premium.
As a parent it is fun to build, play, break and repeat

A great way for young children to build with Duplo and create a toy they can play with. Does not have to be put together precisely to work, so is not frustrating like some toys. I hope Duplo creates more simple kits for younger children so they can experience success--a mix of letting a child be creative while learning to follow directions.
