Customer Review: Baseplate makes Legos much more fun for toddlers

Lego's are excellent, I probably don't need to say that again. We have the Duplos (one box and one bucket), but our 21 month old couldn't do much with them until we also picked up the base plate. He had trouble with building more than just a long string of blocks, and then he'd be frustrated that it was hard to handle, and would fall apart. Now with the base plate, he builds towers, mosaics, walls, and he can drive his cars around on it. It is easily his favorite toy, but without the base plate he didn't like Legos any more than plain old blocks.Customer Review: IT SHOULD BE SOLD IN ALL TOY STORES

I work with little children and we always use Lego blocks to practice language activities like building houses, farm, zoo, create pretend activities, etc. But we could never build something bigger because we did not have the "floor" to have everything in one place, so after looking for this plate in all toys stores I finally got it in Amazon. The other stores only have the boards for small pieces (for older kids 5+). This one is for children 2-5 years old. I highly recommend it for Lego fan kids and educators too.Customer Review: Baseplate is good, but...

The extra pieces in the picture are not included with the baseplate. I guess I didn't read all the print, and I assumed the other pieces (shown in the photo) came with. The photo of the grey baseplate does not show additional pieces so it is clear to a buyer that only a baseplate is for sale. It was not clear for the green baseplate. The baseplate is a great piece, but the price is a bit high with nothing else to go with it.Customer Review: Duplo Building Plate

This an expensive piece of thin molded green plastic! It does however, make building structures with Duplo blocks much easier. My son currently has a farm built on his and with out the building plate it was very hard to keep the blocks from falling apart.
On its own the building plate is pretty worthless, but if you are going to shell out the money for a fancy Duplo Zoo, Fire, or Farm set I would recommend it.

My 2 year-old son liked dumping his Mega Blocks out of the bag, then putting them back, but I couldn't seem to get him interested in stacking them. This mat did the trick! Now we spend a lot of time making "towers" together. When I ask him if he wants to build something, he immediately runs to get his bag of blocks and this mat. I highly recommend it. And, even though it's made by Lego, it does fit the Mega Blocks.
