Toys and Games Reviews of LEGOŽ City Fire StationCustomer Review: Neat set, age range is questionable... Summary: 4 Stars
My son turned 5 in November. We bought this in January - so he was a pretty new 5. We got him this set and set 6187 (age 4+). These were his first real Legos (he has had Duplos)
He did great with set 6187 (lets you make a few little construction vehicles). But this one... not so much. He could get a good ways into putting things together, but he'd get frustrated after a bit and need help. It's OK that he needs help, but then he wants to play with the finished objects, which tends to result in tiny tiny pieces all over the house. Since you need all the pieces to put this together, losing pieces is not fun!
We've put it away and will try again in a few months. Right now, he's just not mature enough for this set. It's really a neat set, though. I'd just suggest it's better maybe for 6 and up, though of course every child is different.
We're going to get set 6164 instead which I think will satisfy the love of emergency vehicles without so much frustration.
Oh - but FWIW we got this in a certain large toy store everyone knows, and we paid about half the asking price here. Price here is high!
Customer Review: Excellent choice! Summary: 5 Stars
This was our 4 1/2 year old son's Santa present this year, and he has been playing with it ever since he put it together. The instructions are quite clear for the vehicles and the buildings. My son was able to follow the directions and put everything together, with some help from my husband and me. Actually, I was really amazed at how motivated he was to put it together himself. It took a few days to get the whole station and both vehicles put together, but he kept at it. Now he is enjoying getting a chance to play with the set and it has provided many hours of imaginative play time. I really feel that this set is well worth the money.
Customer Review: Still as good as ever. Summary: 5 Stars
I had Legos when I was young, so now that my son is 6, it's his turn. I gave all mine away to another youngster when I was in high school (who then gave them to his younger brother--they last forever), so I have to buy new ones. These are every bit as good as the ones I had over 20 years ago. My son already wants more to add to his set. I guess he'll have to wait for his birthday to see what he gets. I only wish Lego would put more drawings of other ways to build the sets. I always liked doing the instruction set first, then trying to copy the pictures. Great for the imagination.
Customer Review: Love the Lego City Fire Station Summary: 5 Stars
We ordered this as a gift for our 5 year old. He loves it. He immediately put it together (with a little help) and has been playing with it constantly. It is a hit with the friends that come over as well. The instructions are easy to follow, the garage doors work and there are 4 fire fighters that come with the set. Pieces are durable. There are a lot of little pieces that can easily be lost if not vigilant in keeping them together. However, they have included a box of extra pieces in case some of the smaller ones get lost. A good addition to any Lego collector's set.
Customer Review: Perfect for Infants Summary: 5 Stars
I love this LEGO set, and found it to be the perfect gift for my 6 month old child. My little baby boy LOVED touching and playing with the red pieces in this set, and he especially loved putting them together. I also found that this toy allowed me to get away, easily leaving him unsupervised. No need to watch him as long as he is preoccupied with the RED LEGO bricks! I now have a hard time pulling him away! I sometimes even have to spank him hard because he will lose the smaller lego pieces, or swallow them entirely. He truly loves this toy. Thank you LEGO! 5 stars!
