Toys and Games Reviews of LEGO City Advent Calendar 2008Customer Review: What about Christmas? Summary: 4 Stars
First off, I gave it four stars because my son LOVES this advent calendar. But here's the thing, there is NOTHING christmasy about it except for the box, all of the toys are merely lego city pieces that have no relation to Christmas. AND many of the days, we have built the Lego creation with NO IDEA of what it is. There are no clues on the box either, none of the pictures of the Lego City goings on match the items that are in the boxes. I think the reason my son loves it, is that it is Lego, so if your kid likes Lego, buy it, but beware of the issues with it.
Customer Review: Lego Advent calendar Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this Lego advent calendar for my 4 year grandson-(trying to get away from the usual candy).
It is perfect! A well designed box- that DOES NOT require assembly, the little doors open to cellophane bagged Lego sets to build your scene. Like items are grouped to open consecutively.
There are many small pieces so I don't recommend for very young kids, but certainly 4 and up can handle it!
My 3 years grandson got the Playmobil pirate advent and while it is really cool with nice sized pieces and fun themes it required a lot of mommy time.
Customer Review: Not the correct amount of pieces Summary: 3 Stars
I really wanted to love this advent calendar. Afterall it's not chocolate! My 8yo daughter was so excited when she received this and loves finding out what is behind each door. However, there are not the correct amount of pieces in every door! Sometimes we get too many and today's piece is missing one. This along with the lack of instructions on how to build something (there is only a picture of the finished item) leads to frustration when she's trying to assemble. Considering it cost more than $1 per item I was expecting more.
Customer Review: What fun! Summary: 5 Stars
I happened to see this item while shopping for friends children this year. My 5 year old is a lego fan and thought it would be fun despite the $30 cost. Well, needless to say, my son REALLY LOVES it! Every night after dinner he finds the number and opens the door and finds a surprise. It is a frequent conversation piece. I have a 'permanent' type advent calendar but I am afraid it will never get any more use after discovering this. He simply loves it and provides many welcome additions to his existing Lego City!!
Customer Review: Lego's Advent Calendars are always fun Summary: 4 Stars
Before Christmas we promised the Lego Advent Calendar to our son, but it turned out to be sold out at the local Lego store or at lego.com . So we were elated that amazon.com had it! My son had a great time putting it together. It's a tradition for him to also put together the previous (two) years' calendars, he likes them so much. Each Advent Calendar is a different little community of people doing different jobs. So with three calendars, he's got a whole city of toys to play with. Lots of fun.
