I bought this pen for my daughters. They love the chipmunks so I thought it would be a nice thing to use while they were learning to write. Granted, they were only 3 years old so they don't quite understand that you shouldn't hold things that are loud to your ears. Unfortunetly this is really loud. The pen is nice if it not held directly to the ear as my daughters were doing. It is way to loud and not good for their hearing. Still a nice pen but I had to take it away until they are alittle older. I would still recommend it for older children, of course not for school.
