Customer Review: Oh so retro!

I have 2 girls, ages 2 and 8. I'm a vintage buff so obviously I fell head over heels for this retro kitchen set! I bought it for my 2 year old - it's the perfect size for her height, but my 8 year old enjoys playing with this just as much!
It took me about 3 hours to assemble the entire kitchen. The directions were moderately easy to follow. Each piece comes labeled with a number sticker. The screws were alphabetized on the instruction sheet, but not labeled in the package they came in, which would have been more convenient for me rather than having to count each group. I used the wrong size screws in the first step which I later had to remove and replace with the correct size once I realized the mistake, but if I had payed closer attention or measured the screws first it would have saved some time. I had to improvise for the tiny philips screws because all I had was a flat screwdriver in that size. I got a little confused with the hinges and the plastic pieces on the cabinets because the holes are the same size, but on one side the holes are spaced slightly further apart. I found this out the hard way. The plastic piece wouldn't fit and I thought this might be a manufacturer defect so I made a new hole only to realize later that the holes were meant for the hinge instead. Oops! Didn't hurt the construction at all, luckily. I just unscrewed it and put the correct piece in. My husband was deployed on Christmas and he usually does this sort of thing. Probably would have taken him an hour to put it together, if that. He knows where all the right tools are! Haha.
Once assembled this kitchen is very sturdy, although I couldn't screw in the handles all the way, which makes me nervous about them coming loose with play but I think it will be alright for now - needs some "man" power I guess. My screwdriver was a little warped which didn't help either because it kept slipping. The instructions have a contact number if you happen to need any assistance with assembling the product and they specifically offer customer satisfaction guaranteed! You can send in any piece for a replacement and they'll pay for shipping! I thought that was very impressive and it shows that the company cares, making sure you get a quality product which puts me at ease after dealing with so many companies that seem like they're just out to get my money and would rather not have to deal with the customer.
Between the refrigerator and cabinets, this offers TONS of storage space for play food, pots and pans and utensils, which is something you don't get with most of these toy kitchens. We bought a mini sterling silver pots and pans set that matches beautifully with the kitchen. We also bought a tea set, tiered dessert stand and some play food - all of it fits nicely inside the spacious cabinets! My kids get alot of playtime out of this and my 2 year old is entertained for hours! She cooked up some "eggs" for breakfast the other day and had me sample them from a ladle! She discovered that the sink pops out and she likes to climb inside the cabinet, poke her head through the hole and play peek-a-boo! Might be dangerous for bigger kids, I don't know if their head might get stuck. I love that this set is available in other colors as well - red and I think I saw a silver one. Pink was perfect for a house with all girls though! This is a toy that will last for years and will probably be handed down! I totally got my money's worth with this set - you can't beat the price! I should know - I shopped all over the internet! This is one very satisfied customer!
