Customer Review: Rip-off at almost any price if you expect flight.

This toy is horribly designed. It looks okay, but that is all smoke and mirrors if you expect a toy that does what the box says it does.
First of, it could never take off from the ground because once it gets moving quickly, it starts to pull to one side or the other and then spins out. So, we tried a throw launch. No dice. It nose dove in under 3 seconds 100% of the time. Holding it up with the props going you can feel why: they pull forward and DOWN. There is no way this thing could stay aloft, unless it were already high in the air with an updraft.
I suppose we can run it on the ground, but we could have found tons of nicer RC cars if we had wanted to do that.
By the way, the only reason to give it a 2 in educational value was that it unintentionally provided lessons to my son in troubleshooting and in learning that there are companies out there willing to swindle and disappoint children.

With a flight range of more than 300 feet, the Robotic Air Defense flies up to 30 miles per hour and higher than 20 stories, and is capable of performing incredible aerial stunts. Not only can this R.A.D. robot fly, but it can talk as well. The remote triggers user-controlled speaking and missile sounds. For added effect, when the robot speaks, its eyes light up.
Ready to Fly
Because flying can be dangerous, the Robotic Air Defense is made with impact-resistant material to stand up to long days of play. The amazingly light stealth wing styling is inspired by actual stealth planes. The robot features a twin turbo engine design and comes ready to run on a built-in, rechargeable 7.4-volt lithium ion polymer battery. In the case of more than one flying robot being in use, the remote control provides two separate channels. This robot also includes a first aid vehicle repair kit and a detachable blaster, and a XPV fuel system that also charges USB devices. It is recommended for kids ages eight and up.
