Customer Review: Great for what I paid, not too babyish

This is a nice virtual pet simulation, I got it cheaply, very cheaply off ebay. You would be crazy to pay the original selling price of 50$ for this however time has passed and prices have dropped so I don't think that will be an issue with this toy anymore. For those having trouble getting it to save you have to pull the pod out without turning it off to get it to save, if you turn it off before you take out the pod it will not save. You basically never need to hit the power button on the console except like the first time you use it. It doesn't seem to matter if the pod is on or not when you put it into the dock, either way it turns on. I know its odd but thats what works.
For those wondering about the graphics its about what you would see on a Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo video game console. The graphics look pretty realistic for what they are and do not look too kiddie, babyish or cutsie.
I bought this thing used and it still works so it must be pretty durable however it does seem cheaply made (the pods seem better made than the dock). The pods come with scratched screens directly out of the package even if they are brand new, which doesn't make much sense as I am picky about scratches and things like that. I have the dog and the cat and the paint on the pink cat pod comes off with just a fingernail scratch and the paint on the console is off as in the paint goes over the lines as if someone was coloring outside the lines in a coloring book.
I don't appreciate that this toy takes THREE AAA batteries, its an odd number and hard to work around, just make the thing take 2 or 4 batteries, preferably AA which are common and cheaper. I don't care if the pod gets bigger due to battery choice but AAA's run out fast especially since this device is backlit and you cannot see anything much without the backlight on.
