Toys and Games Reviews of EyeClops Mini ProjectorCustomer Review: A toy projector that just works Summary: 4 Stars
Wow, was I impressed with the quality of this projector. Note: I was able to purchase it under $50 as a gift. Physics note: The brightness of the projected image falls by 75% for every doubling of projection distance and image size. Likewise, the brightness will increase 300% by halving the projection distance and image size. These are important facts if you want a larger image at a reduced brightness, or can live with a reduced image in return for improved brightness. I haven't tested high-speed images, such as complex and/or intense video games, to give a review on ghosting and/or response time, but the action movies I have played have not suffered ghosting during rapid scene changes, so the image seems to have a nice, speedy response to input signals.
Pros: The image is in full color, fairly clear and the colors are nicely registered together, to give good colors to the image, except maybe at the outer edges of the projected image, where you might notice a pastel tinge. The focus seems to be adequate at all tested ranges (2 ft, 4 ft, 5 ft, 6 ft). The resolution is strictly standard, but is adequate for my DVD collection. Easy to set up. It comes with a carrying case. It is simple to set up and turn on. The simplicity of this toy is excellent for anyone who has an aversion to complex technology (there is only one set of RCA inputs and only one control - the on-off button). Good, low-cost video solution for dark/night environments. LCD projection means that you won't have to buy expensive replacement bulbs. LEDs should last a long time, and the unit does not get particularly hot after extended viewing. This projector has many good image features, listed above, that are on par with budget projectors ten times the price just a few years ago. This projector is probably on-par with any projector older than 15 years. The battery pack only requires 4 D batteries, telling us that it is a relatively low-wattage item. That could make it a viable alternative for replacing an older TV. The AC power supply plugs directly into the projection unit. I haven't tested it, but if you are using AC power, the base unit and mounting arm may not even be necessary for operation. I have been operating mine without batteries. Good loud speaker, but can be tinny and has range limits inherent to small speakers. It looks good.
Cons: The image is not high-definition. No adjustments of any kind. No focus. No Keystone. No multiple inputs. No high definition image. No brightness control. No color control. (I actually like the simplicity of this projector, but people who pay more attention to image quality will rail against the lack of detail control.) No extra inputs beyond a standard RCA input of single image, left audio channel, and right audio channel. Construction is of toy-quality plastic. (However, you must be cautious with the handling of any projector, unless it's particularly constructed for durability.) The battery base unit and the projector have plastic screw holes, so the screwing mount arm that connects these two units can easily screw past the point where the two units are square with each other, so you may need to allow a loose connection between the units, in order to maintain a nice, straight alignment between the units. Packing is not recommended, as I believe the power from the batteries in the base are passed directly through the arm, so packing the threads for a tighter fit may cut off the electricity flow from the batteries. Audio quality from the internal speakers cannot handle high or bass ranges very well, due to the small size of the speakers.

| | | | | | This kid-friendly projector projects movies, video games and more. | The projector is lightweight and compact, so you can even project on the ceiling. | The EyeClops expands video games to larger-than-life sizes. | If You Can Plug It In, You Can Project It The Eyeclops puts big-screen projection capability in the palm of your hand. It's easy to create your own home theater -- just connect your favorite media player or game console to the Eyeclops' audio-video inputs (connector cables not included), turn on the power, and aim the projector at a wall or ceiling. With built-in speakers and a projected screen size of up to 60 inches, your favorite movies and video games will take on a whole new look and sound! The Eyeclops works with DVD players, video game consoles, handheld devices, and more! The projector's simple, kid-friendly features include a pivoting arm for adjusting the projection angle, a volume control, and a focal adjustment. Unlike other larger projectors, the Eyeclops doesn't get hot, so it's safe for kids to handle. Projector Fits in the Palm of Your Hand Going on a road trip? The projector unit weighs less than a pound and measures a compact 2 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches (H x W x D), so kids can easily take it along for all kinds of adventures. The projection stand features a convenient belt clip in addition to a portable battery pack that provides approximately 270 minutes of projection time -- more than enough for an outdoor screening! The Darker the Room, the Clearer the Image Whether you're projecting a film on the ceiling of your bedroom or a video game inside of your tent, the key to a clear image is a dark environment. Kids will find that even a little daylight makes the screen dim and blurry. For best results, the projector should be positioned within several feet of the projection surface, and all light sources should be covered. Because the Eyeclops' on-board speakers may not provide the same quality of audio that your home speakers do, the projector features a mini-jack audio output that allows you to connect it to headphones or external speakers. Additionally, while standard RCA cables (not included) are sufficient to connect most devices to the Eyeclops, certain media players and handheld devices may require special connector cables that can be purchased separately.
