Toys and Games Reviews of EyeClops Bionic Eye Multizoom, GreenCustomer Review: Cool Educational Toy for the Whole Family Summary: 5 Stars
One cord to plug it into the TV, and it's ready to go...couldn't be easier to set up and use!
Amazing detail with all things fibrous -- cloth, hair, fur, paper. Unexpected details in things like plastic, laminates, metals. Easy even for little ones to use, though they need to understand they can't lick, scratch, or otherwise mar the lens.
Comes with a petri dish accessory, and a little plastic tube that can be screwed into the eye for close-up examination of liquids, bugs, and who-knows-what-we'll-think-of-next?!
Ease of use and the effect of seeing things magnified on your TV set is exactly what makes this toy straddle that line between great toy and educational tool.
Wow!
Customer Review: My Nephew went Crazy . . . Summary: 5 Stars
Well, this was by far the most perfect gift for my 13 year old nephew who was visiting from the Czec Republic over the holidays. He quickly hooked it up to the big screen TV in the family room and was soon "looking up close and personal" at absolutely everything! We all got into it and throughout the day, we'd find something new to check out. The laughter shook the house and was perfect. I'm certain that he'll continue to be both entertained and utilize the EyeClops to satisfy his curiosity and to spark his imagination when he gets it home. And, yes, of course we had to look up his nose and other silly things . . . it was a gas! A great gift for any young person interested in science . . . or just with a curious nature!
Customer Review: Great toy for adults and kids Summary: 4 Stars
I bought the EyeClops as a gift for my two neices, ages 7 and 9. It's a fantastic toy and learning tool, although the kids needed help to understand how to position targets under the lens. Since it feeds directly to your TV via an analog signal, it makes it really easy to use. My brother plans to combine the EyeClops with his wife's digital camera (since the camera accepts analog input) to make it mobile outside. the eyeclops is powerful enough to show the threads in your clothing in detail, the texture of your skin, and reveal a totally new world in miniature. i'd say that this is ideal for bug viewing (live or dead) - it's enough to show the anatomy of a fly in gross detail. by far their favorite christmas gift.
Customer Review: Does not connect! Summary: 1 Stars
The EyeClops is a great idea for a toy, and it seems as if many people are enjoying it. However, to enjoy it, you first have to connect it to your TV -- and we have been completely unable to do that. (I should add that we are not technologically incompetent, and are normally unfazed by any kind of A/V challenge.)
We have two TVs -- both older models -- and the EyeClops didn't show up on either one. So we took it to our next-door neighbor, who has two splashy new TVs, exactly the kind shown on the box for the EyeClops. It didn't work with her TVs either. Then we took it to yet another neighbor, and it didn't work with HIS. After five unsuccessful attempts, I'm giving up and returning it to the store!
Customer Review: Great fun for your budding scientist! Summary: 5 Stars
The Eye Clops was #1 on my 8 year old daughter's Christmas list, and Santa obliged. The previous reviews on this item pretty much covered my sentiments, and also described some of the "extras" that came with it--the petrie dish thingy and the cylinder. Lots of detail can be seen on skin, hair, clothing, paper, fur, etc. Yes, it takes a little getting used to as far as keeping things in focus is concerned. The eye clops comes with a fairly long cord, so we're able to reach just about anything in the room we'd care to examine. The price is right, and it's something my 8- and 6-year olds can play with by themselves, versus a microscope, which I'd be afraid of my 4 yr old "destructo-boy" getting his hands on!
