Toys and Games Reviews of EyeClops Bionic Eye Multizoom, Green

Customer Review: EXACTLY as advertised! EASY! AWESOME!
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I just presented this to our 7 year-old for his Birthday. We read many of the reviews on here prior to our purchase, and all we can say is that several of these reviews people gave on here are very inaccurate. It was probably one of the easiest toys to get going that our son received for his birthday. Pretty simple, plug and play! The example pictures on the package (for example, salt, looking like ice cubes) are exact. Focusing is not a problem either. Pretty simple, place the eye directly over or on top of an object, and if needed, turn the focus, and that's it. A steady hand is NOT that necessary either. The colors and clarity on our TV are awesome! The resolution is AWESOME! I think any negative reviews found on here are by people who expected multi-thousand dollar CSI like microscope technology for $40. What you get is an amazing toy for $40. One note, we found our best results when plugging directly into the video input of the TV, as opposed to going through a DVD or VCR. Our 7 year old has had no problems! And we love it too!!

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

This toy is the best thing my kids got for Christmas. And even though the recommended age is 8-12, my 56 year old father is the one who seemed to have the most fun with it! We all fight for turns to look at things from freckles to cuticles to coins to pet hair. And it is educational in ways you wouldn't even think. For example, I taught my daughter the difference between woven fabrics and knits because the fibers have consistently different textures when magnified.

It does take a little bit of practice to get the hand-eye coordination down, but my 8 year old can do it easily. It is easy for all ages to hold, and it's not heavy. It takes a few double A batteries which we put in on Christmas morning and haven't died yet, three days later (we have had the unit on for hours and hours so even though three days doesn't sound like a lot, it's had a lot of use in that time).

All in all, I would buy this as a gift for anyone, any age, and I'd recommend it to anyone as well!

Customer Review: Impressed

WOW! Something that is advertised on TV that doesn't turn out to be junk! This was a Christmas gift for my 5 year old son, and I'd have to say one of the best gifts he got. The only thing that was tricky is getting the focus to work, but it just takes a bit of practice & patients. Well worth the time and money, and Amazon's got the best price around! We had a blast running from room to room finding things to look at. It was so much fun he took it to school for show & tell. They've used it their class as part of their science studies, now the school is putting one in the classroom. This is perfect for younger kids to grasp the idea of how things are made up of tiny fibers & molecules, since most young kids can't really focus a real microscope. Just pick any item, set it on the eyeclopse and bam, there it is blown up on the TV larger than life! It even magnifies your skin to the point where you can see each cell! EXCELLENT gift (FYI, adults probably have more fun, but just won't admit it).

Customer Review: lots of fun - but cheap plastic and battery hog
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall we've had fun with this product. But upon initial setup the threads on the "eye" which has to screw on threaded improperly and got stuck. I finally got it loose, but thought for sure I would break it. It ended up with a very small crack but it still works. Anytime we try to focus it the movement is still is not that smooth, but that's what cheap plastic does. It would be nice if the focusing ring could be a bit more durable as the product itself is lots of fun for our family. Also- take the battery waning seriously or you won't get good results. I had neglected to get a full set of batteries and used what we had with poor (dim) results. Fresh batteries made a HUGE difference. Though they should consider an AC adapter since this is one more thing we almost DID NOT buy for our son because of the battery consumption and waste it's going to create. It was the only thing like this we purchased for the holidays. All the rest were battery-less or had an adapter.

Customer Review: Much Better than the Uncle Milton Digital TV Microscope
Summary: 5 Stars

I used to use an Uncle Milton Digital TV Microscope in my classes at school. We would use it look closely at various sample of items we studied in Science (like rocks, minerals, fingerprints, plants, etc.).

I recently bought an EyeClops and I was blown away. It works SOOOOOO much better than the digital TV microscope. Images with the EyeClops were, without a doubt, ,so much clearer than they were with the otehr microscope. I'm not sure if it is because more lights used with the EyeClops or not. We have looked at so many other things now in class with our EyeClops - skin, hair, and - our favorite - cuts on hands and arms - the kids love seeing these blown up 200 times larger than they are.

The price is also very reasonable - I paid around $40 for the EyeClops and I paid close to $70 for the inferior Uncle Milton product.

I have already recommended that every grade level in our school should have one of these ready to use!
