Toys and Games Reviews of EyeClops Bionic Eye Multizoom, GreenCustomer Review: So simple you don't need instructions -- except you do. Summary: 2 Stars
We really wanted to like this "toy," purchasing it as a family christmas present for a friend with two small boys. we opened the box and set it up the day before they came, and were glad that we did. First of all, it is so simple to use that they don't include instructions, so of course we couldn't figure out how it worked. the best we were able to accomplish was accidentally seeing the surface (a very tiny portion of the surface) of one of my fingers by accident. Most of the time the TV only showed a blurry image, made worse by the fact that there is no way to steady the thing with a holder of some kind. It comes with a kind of cup device that we never were able to figure out. If you want a toy that will drive you crazy while you try to make it work as advertised, than this is it! We even used a dime and all we saw was a shiny bumpy image on the screen. We had to go out to a toy store the night before we saw our friends and find something else. what a disaster. p.s. I think it could be improved if they cut the magnification, or at least made it adjustable; created a stand for it, and put some instructions in the box.
Customer Review: Exceptional little gadget Summary: 5 Stars
We bought my daughters two different microscopes in the past. We were very disappointed by both. The poor quality kept the kids from developing any interest. A few days ago, my nine year old approached me about an interest in the EyeClops. After the past experiences, I was leery of spending $50 for another microscope item. After some negotiating, we agreed to pick it up. When we got it home I was not looking forward to setting it up. However, it plugged in the TV and that was it. It was very simple. The kids started checking anything and everything out. They were searching the house for new things to look at. I was very surprised by the quality of the images that were being captured. Now that I have seen the EyeClops in use, $50 doesn't seem so bad. It's less then the price of some video games and the kids are enjoying learning new things. After the kids went to bed and I had a chance to look it over, I realized that I could also hook it into the computer's AV adapter and capture magnified video and pictures off of it using the Movie Maker that comes with Windows. It made for some really cool pics.
Customer Review: "Every kid should have this toy!" Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my little sister (7) for Christmas, even though it wasn't on her list to Santa. When she opened it she didn't really know what it was and wasn't immediately excited, but the next day we took it out of the box and plugged it in and she was immediately impressed. We must have looked at everything in the house up close, including up her nose and in her ear. After about five minutes of looking at everything around the tv, she was up gathering things from around the house, some in the little viewing dish that comes with it. Every time she ran out of the room to find more things, she said "You keep discovering until I get back." Then she told me "Every little kid should have this toy." The booklet that comes with it gives you good ideas of things to look at. Once we used the focusing disc, I didn't have a problem focusing in on anything at all. She had a few problems holding it straight to look at what she was pointing out, but I think she pretty much has the hang of it now. This definitely seemed to be her favorite present this year. Definitely a winner.
Customer Review: More than just a toy! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my grandson's birthday. He was really kind of young to appreciate it very much, he had just turned 4. He had toy trucks and tractors and stuff that got most of his attention. I was rather disappointed in my gift buying skills and even thought about getting him something else, and using the EyeClops for myself. This thing is incredible. I run an automotive repair shop and could see many uses for it with it's 200X magnification. Anyway, the next day I got a call from my daughter telling me that the EyeClops was a major hit! See said that her husbands parents had come by and they had started playing around with it, and then some neighbors showed up. They too were amazed and asked if they could invite over some of their friends. She said before she new it, she had a house full. Who knows what all they were looking at, but everyone was amazed. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars on everything, is because it's plastic design does not lend itself to young kids. I'd say 6 or 7 would be about the starting point...going up to 100 years old!

Customer Review: Very nice way to introduce children to science and their world. Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered my daughter the quantum microscope thinking it would be great for her to see things on the big screen as opposed to holding the eyeclops steady, trying to see the entire object, etc... I was wrong. The quantum microscope was a huge disappointment as it only showed shadows of the slides and objects we found. The eyeclops, however, came through (she got it from someone else for Christmas) great. It allows her to see things on a much more deeper/detailed level. It doesnt allow you to see the entire item at once; but the indepth view you get is worth just seeing a portion of it. My biggest problem with it is that I end up having to hold it and steady it for her (and I have to hold the object as well) while she views and she wants to do that part but doesnt have the coordiation for it yet. We will practice on that, and I am glad she got this as it made up for the disappointment on the Quantum microscope which we wont end up even using now. Nice product that can get children really interested in science and how the world around them actually looks close up.
