Toys and Games Reviews of 69" x 69" x 53" Jump-o-Lene Castle BouncerCustomer Review: So far it's GREAT! Summary: 5 Stars
We got this for my 18-month-old son for Christmas. I was a little concerned about buying it due to the many negative reviews on quality but decided to go for it anyway. My son is on the timid side and very scared of the bounce house at Little Gym so I thought this would be a good way to help him get comfortable with standing on air. I also hoped it would give him a good workout on winter afternoons that prohibit play outside. Both my husband and I expected our son to be timid with it at first sight but to come to love it. Instead, shocker of shockers, he saw it, a smile spread across his face as he raced toward it and immediately climbed in.
We filled it with two bags of 100 ballpit balls. I thought this would be enough but the pictures are a tad decieving. It actually does have quite a lot of space inside. The floor is a bit depressed from the sides so it will fit more balls than the pictures make it seem. The 200 balls we got were enough to play with and my son seemed perfectly happy with them. But, if you're looking to fill the floor completely with balls, it could probably fit 400-500 very nicely.
The biggest bummer was set up. It took my husband over three hours to fill it with air using a foot pump and a basketball hand pump. If you do get this, I would highly suggest investing in an electric pump.
We have only had it up a few days so I can't comment on long term quality. The plastic does seem somewhat thick and durable, although I don't think I would use it outside as it doesn't seem that durable. Nothing has deflated so far, but again, we've only had it up a couple days.
Regardless, I have to highly recommend this toy. If you're wavering like I was about purchasing it, I say take a chance. The reason? When asked if he was ready to go eat breakfast after about 30 minutes of play on Christmas morning, my son promptly shouted "NO" and climbed back in the Castle bouncer, ready to play with it forever. Truly, a feat for any mom looking for a toy her toddler will love.
Customer Review: Jump Your Heart Out (then take a nap) Summary: 5 Stars
I can't believe the quality of this for the price tag. I thought, for sure, that it would have blown a seam during the first use. Luckily, it didn't. I think we'll get many uses out of this toy.
It's pretty big so when we blew it up in the house it required a significant furniture relocation effort. But, after weeks of pent up energy due to inclement weather, it was worth a Martha Stewart moment.
Running a hose from our 15 gallon air compressor made quick work of blowing up the toy. They say not to use a compressor, but if you're careful I don't see any problem. Using one of those little electric air pumps would have taken a while and blowing it up using human lung power just isn't an option.
The kids (2 and 4) really enjoyed jumping in it and they liked the balls (however there are so few balls there is no "ball pit" effect). Mostly, they enjoyed throwing the balls over the walls and around the room.
I think this is best suited for shorter and younger kids (2-4) because even at those ages my kids were throwing themselves over the walls and flip-flopping themselves onto the floor (this was intentional on the part of my kids).
The floor of the jump-o-lene is plenty springy and sturdy. My husband and I both crawled in and hung out with the kids but I wouldn't suggest adults jumping because even this thing will have limits.
The one sword does not stay inflated (we'll need to find the hole one of these days) but it's ok because it reduces the number of sword fights between the kids (no one wants the flacid sword) and it mitigates the impact of inflated projectiles flying into room decorations and innocent bystanders.
I also like that it's still small enough and light enough that you can move it around - unlike some of those really big at home inflatables where you're stuck with it until you release all of the air.
Customer Review: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Summary: 1 Stars
We saw this product and thought that out of all the bouncy houses we could get, it was the most affordable, and smallest (since it was going to be indoors) that would also be fun. It WAS fun for our just-turned 4 yr old daughter, she loved it, and loved bouncing in it, and hanging out in it like a little fort. HOWEVER, if you read other reviews you will see this is a huge issue: DURABILITY is ZERO!! We inflated it per the instructions, it sat at room temp for nearly a week before we did. She bounced in it a total of 3 hours in the first week - and by the end of the week, it sprung a leak along the seam. A big gaping hole! So we used the patch they provided... and it looked like it was going to work. But it never stayed inflated after that. We checked the return policy - MAKE SURE YOU DO - it will cost you $25 to ship it back (half the cost of the product to begin with), and it has to be in the original box/packaging (how many people keep original boxes for a month?), and that's provided you can get a hold of someone. No one ever returned our calls or picked up the phone. So we reluctantly bought a second one, since our daughter loves this thing. And guess what? It sprung a leak too!! And she hardly bounced in it at all. This time, we can't find the leak. Both times the thing deflated along the bottom (supporting) rings. The walls and the inner yellow circle are still fine, but the rest is flat. We are VERY disappointed in this product and HIGHLY encourage you to look into another company for something like this. It is a WASTE of money and time. Anyone who has had good luck with this is extremely fortunate. DON'T BUY THIS VERY POORLY DESIGNED PRODUCT!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POLICIES!!!
Customer Review: Fantastic bouncer, amazing value! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm 100% happy with this purchase. After looking at dozens of different types of bounce houses, I settled on this one because it seemed large, safe & the price was unbeatable. Although the dimensions are clearly stated, it was bigger than I pictured it, which for us was a great thing. My daughter was 20 months when we bought it and she's been bouncing with joy ever since.
The sides are high & strong enough that she can't fall out even if she throws herself against the side, which is why I prefer this to a trampoline. (Please keep in mind that she's tiny now--I don`t know that this holds true for 6 year olds & such!) We've had no problems with leaks or damage, and it inflates very quickly (15 minutes or less) with the Coleman electric pump we purchased. The first time we inflated it, we used a manual bike pump and that took around an hour, so even that's not so bad.
It has multiple uses--fort, playhouse and ball pit (to an extent, because of the open door you can't pile the balls very deep but its plenty for a toddler in my opinion). I was going to also purchase her a play tent or play house around the same time I bought this, but I've put those plans on hold for the moment since she's happy to bring all of her stuffed animals in her castle and play peek a boo through the door. This has to be the best 50.00 I spent in my life. Months of daily play now that we keep it permanently inflated in the living room.
She even watches Sesame Street through the door as she bounces, so TV has become much more active which makes me really happy. Although to be honest, most of the time she`s paying much more attention to bouncing than Elmo!
Customer Review: Big fun for little kids Summary: 5 Stars
I got this for my (just turned) two year old son, since the colder months leave us unable to go to the park thus leaving him with excess energy.
This was a huge hit. I didnt know if he would like a bouncer or even would know what to do but he got right in and laughs himself silly throwing the balls out. He works himself into a lather bouncing around in there which makes for good sleeping later!
I had 10 two year olds over for a birthday party last weekend and they all loved it. Several cried when forced to leave. Its a great value and a great toy.
Its huge though, you need a basement to put it in, it takes about 30 minutes to inflate and I did pop a sword over-inflatin git, so beware.
Otherwise if your kid needs to burn off some energy or loves to bounce, its a great toy.
Update: One week after we started using this, both "arrows" were deflated every morning. One I accidentially burst while doing the morning refill, the other one I just tossed to the side. I will say this is disappointing, but I will leave my review at 5 stars, b/c the arrows are a small part of the fun of this toy- at least for my son at his current age.
Update: The fun is over. The bouncer now deflates in three sections due to unfound holes. It's time to throw it in the trash. I'm disappointed that it didnt last longer though in a way, Im glad to get the space back. All my sons playgroup friends mom bought one after seeing ours, so I guess he can live vicariously through them until theirs also fall apart.
