Toys and Games Reviews of Quercetti Georello Kaleido Gears, 55 pieces

Customer Review: Actual gears for kids
Summary: 4 Stars

Colorful gears of different sizes and colors rotating around in different directions, being able to move them around to create custom patterns, learning about mechanical things and holding the interest of two girls, one just turned four and the other barely two. And the adults love it and make the kids cry as they take over...that is the sign of a very good gift indeed.

The report is that two months later, they still play with it regularly.

Don't be worried about having to keep track of all the little parts. They will be mounted on the base board, so it will end up being just one thing.

Anyone who works with real gears knows that it is sometimes hard to remove them from their shafts and that you can break them if you don't do it correctly. Like real life, the gear game suffers from this. It is not easy for little kids to remove the gears, so they get rough and break the little axles they rotate on. The crank that turns the gears was broken within minutes, but wasn't really missed as the kids turn them by hand anyway.

This is one great toy. Fix the axle system and add different boards that join together so that more shapes can be made and it would be perfect.

I had to remove a star for the durability factor.

Customer Review: Great toy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought a used version of this same toy, and my 2-1/2 year old daughter loves it! She connects the blocks together to make "train tracks", sticks the gears into the blocks and spins them with her fingers, and even enjoys figuring out how to fit everything back in the plastic box we use to store it in. I'm sure this is a toy that will grow with her, as she begins to build more complex gear systems.

I love that it allows her to be creative, and the toy itself is pretty to look at, too. The blocks are also flexible enough for small fingers. I'm so happy with it that I'm considering buying another set (at full price) so she'll be able to build even bigger gear structures. An all-around great toy!

Customer Review: Our favorite toy
Summary: 5 Stars

My 2 year old son was first introduced to this toy at our Montessori class...he was hooked immediately!!! It was easy for him to figure out how to put the pieces together and attach the gears (he loved being able to do all of this himself as opposed to other gear toys where most of the building is already done for you) He sat and happily played with this fantastic toy for almost an hour before we had to leave. The learning possibilities of this toy are immmense as is the "fun value". With no "bells and whistles" this toy ranks very high on our list of toys due to the fact that our son has complete creative control...it's all up to him. All in all, it's a fantastic toy that we highly recomend.

Customer Review: Too Difficult for Kids to Assemble
Summary: 2 Stars

I got this because my 4-year-old loves gears. My kids have the Playschool Busy Gears and love them. I thought this would be a more advanced version of that for her to play with. I don't like this toy though because it is really difficult to put together. My daughter likes to turn the gears with the handle, but an adult always has to build it for her. Other kids I have seen play with this toy have a lot of trouble too. It looks cool but isn't a practical choice for a kid. The base is really hard to put together because not all of the pieces will interlock with each other. The pegs that hold the gears onto the base are also very hard to put on.

Customer Review: Educational & Fun Toy
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Quercetti Georello Kaleido Gears, 55 pieces for my grandsons 4th & 5th birthday. They love these gears! An endless number of patterns can be made with these gears encouraging childrens creativity. There is a handle that makes the brightly colored gears turn. My grandsons play with this toy for up to an hour at a time. This toy seems to be well made. It is made of a firm plastic but not the type that breaks easily. I would recommend Quercetti Georello Kaleido Gears for preschoolers through early elementary age children. A well made, educational fun toy.
