My son loved this toy. But he's dropped it from the height of his one-year old arms, and the drum function no longer works. It only plays notes when rolled on its side. He's dropped many electronic toys, most of which have not broken. It was easy to open, but neither my husband nor I could see an identifiable source for the problem. The concept of the toy itself is great, however, I wonder if the cheaper Discovery version of this would be a better buy ($[...]).Customer Review: Awesome drum for 8 to 16 months

My son has beaten the crap out of this drum for nearly a year and it functions as well as it did the day it arrived. He has also loved it for nearly a year, and was especially obsessed with it when he was about ten months old, mastering the function of the buttons and learning exactly when to hit the drum again to get the music to continue playing. The combination of tolerable ditties/beats, buttons, lights and durability make this an excellent toy drum!Customer Review: terrific baby toy!

I bought this toy for my granddaughter for her first birthday, at the suggestion of my son and daughter-in-law. They told me she had played with a similar toy at daycare, which she loved. She squealed in delight when she saw the drum light up and make music. This was one of her favorite toys to play with, and she figured out right away how to make the drum play music and lights. This was only 2 months ago, so I can't say much yet about its durability.Customer Review: 7 month old loves this one.

This is far less annoying than some other electronic toys and I love how it has different modes for drums & other musical sounds. And it also has a soft & loud option.
It sits perfectly in between the legs of my 7month old and he loves to bang away at it. And when he lays down in his pack n play, he kicks it and it works well as a kick n' play.
He really seems to be learning cause and effect with this toy.

My year-old daughter likes to bang beats with her hands on the tables so, for her birthday, I decided this might be the toy for her. It is! She loves this drum. It reacts to her touch and gives her instant feedback. She enjoys rolling it around on the floor to play the music and likes that the lights and sounds change (when you push the big color circles). I am pleased with how happy she is and this toy is saving my end tables.
