Toys and Games Reviews of International Playthings Flash Beat DrumCustomer Review: On the fence... Summary: 4 Stars
I debated giving this a 3 star review but it gets 4. Reasoning:
We ordered this off Amazon for Christmas for our 8 month old. I'm not sure if the delivery guys dropped it but we haven't. The sound quality has a high static sound to it. It almost hurts to put it on the Tunes setting. The Drum setting and the Silly Sounds setting aren't that bad since they are kind of fast. I'm not sure if this is a lack of quality or if we just got a dud but the static is a huge problem and I'm wondering if anybody else has a similar problem?
It gets 4 stars because it's still a nice toy. The colors are bright and what baby doesn't love to bang on things! As a bonus, there's lights and sound involved! As mentioned, the toy has 3 modes: Tunes - tap it once and it plays a song and dancing lights, Drum - tap it all you want and the lights come on when you tap, Silly Sounds - tap it all you want and it lights up and plays a silly whistle. I like that it can roll around on it's side too and it still makes sounds and lights up. There is a shut off switch and 2 volume controls.
So, in the end, it gets 4 stars because the drum and sounds settings are ok, our son loves when it lights up anyway and he can roll it around on the floor. The static is the only problem.
Customer Review: Great toy - fun and durable Summary: 5 Stars
My son received this drum as a gift when he was 9 months old. He's 3 years old now, and still loves it. It's the only battery powered toy that we actually like, and the calypso-style music is enjoyable instead of irritating. In spite of heavy use, it doesn't use too many batteries (I think we've only changed them once or twice in all this time), and it takes real abuse (it's been dropped more times than I can count). Every few months my son invents a new way to play with it. At nine months he liked to hit it to make sounds. Now he turns on the music for "exercise" (jumping around the living room). Great toy
Customer Review: Excellent Workmanship, Lots of Fun Summary: 5 Stars
An average American family with kids spends about $700 on toys every year. Of this money, the twenty or so bucks this drum costs have proved to be the best investment for us. This drum is the only toy I've seen to come with two volume settings, so it won't drive you nuts like many other high-pitch "music" toys out there. It's super-durable. The music doesn't become annoying even when played over and over (and over). The drum makes sounds as it rolls. It has an on/off switch that our 9-month-old son has learned to operate himself. A rare mix of good craftsmanship, smart design and good fun.
Customer Review: Great toy that holds interest Summary: 4 Stars
I saw this toy at my son's daycare. All the kids were sitting around it and "hitting" the drum. I thought if every kid there is intrigued, it must be good. The age recco is 9 months and up, but my son has loved it since 6.5 months. Since it's arrived, it's become his "go to" toy. He doesn't seem to tire of it. He loves seeing it light up and make sounds when he hits it. Or rolls it. It's a very good toy for showing cause and effect. My husband and I like it because the music and sounds are fun, and not irritating. It's a wonderful toy that I will be giving as a gift in the future.
Customer Review: Best Toy I Ever Bought The Grandkids - According to their Mom! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this toy for my youngest grandson when he was just six months old. He is now 20 months old and still loves it. My daughter says it is the very best toy I have ever bought for the kids, and trust me, I have bought way too many! His 4 year old brother also plays with it on occasion.
This is a very well made toy. My grandsons are rough on their toys and this drum looks as good as when they got it. The youngest likes to push the buttons, smack it to make the music and see the lights, dance, and even sit on it!
I highly recommend this toy.
