After reading such favorable reviews I bought this bowling set for my son's first birthday. We've had the toy now for a month and he is not very interested in it. If I set it up for him he will toss the ball at the pins a couple of times and then look at a couple of animal/pins and then he is done. I don't much care if he bowls with it, but he doesn't pick it up or ask for any of the pieces either.
While the toy is cute, something not played with is money wasted. The toy seems well made and probably durable but without a child to love it, I just can't recommend it.

My 20 months old daughter loves them. She learned cause and effect with these animal pins. She realized that she can throw the ball and knock the pins down with out having to use her hands. She also learned all the numbers up to 6, and associated them with the animals. Her favorite color is blue, and her favorite animal is a dog. In this game the dog happens to be blue, and his number is 5. So, of course her favorite number is now, 5.
When she looks for the pins, she reffers to them as "Puppy Five". "Duck Six" is her second favorite, and so on so forth. Very cool!

My children really enjoyed this toy but I really didn't think it was all that great. The only thing they enjoyed about it was the ball. They threw it around a lot.
I couldn't get the animals to stand up right, EVER. It is not educational besides the pins are animals. Since the pins don't stand up though the kids don't really pay attention to them.
I ended up giving this toy away to someone who had a baby. I thought maybe it would be better for a baby who is learning how to hold things since the game part just doesn't work.

This is a wonderful toy. I bought it for my niece's first birthday, and ended up getting another set for our house. Right now both my 3 yo and 9 mo enjoy it. Besides the fun bowling option, it allows for various other kinds of interaction and creativity. We make up stories with the animals, have parades, match up the colors and sounds, and so on. Enjoyable for a toddler or preschooler, and fun for a baby as well with the soft, colorful, baby-friendly pieces that make interesting sounds. A great item, and no plastic or batteries!Customer Review: Very Cute

When I saw this bowling set in the store I just had to buy it for my 14 month old daughter. We have had it for three days and she just got the hang of rolling the ball to knock over the pins. The ball and pins are so soft; I think this toy would be appropriate for a younger baby too. The pins are numbered so this toy will be great when she starts learning her numbers. I can see her using this toy for at least another year. I would recommend this toy for anyone with a child under 2.
