Toys and Games Reviews of Earlyears Baby Farm Friends BowlingCustomer Review: A fun toy Summary: 4 Stars
This is a nice little set of plush animal bowling pins and a soft ball with which to knock them down. We purchased it when our youngest child was an infant (he's now 16 months) and his brother was a toddler set on throwing everything he could get his hands on. The soft aspect of the toys drew us to them, as did the different sounds, which would appeal to the baby. As it turns out, neither of them have ever really used it for the intended purpose - the older child (now 2.5 years) prefers body bowling over using the ball! He sets up some of the pins and then jumps off of the couch into the middle of them. I have only two complaints about the toys. First of all, they attract animal hair and other floor muck very easily and are difficult to clean. We have two dogs, and the pins often seem to have more dog hair on them than the dogs! Secondly, they can be hard for the kids to stand up on the carpet. After a few tries on his own, the 2 year old gets frustrated and walks away or, if he's in a bad mood, starts tossing them all over the living room. Ultimately, this is probably a set better suited to a pet-free household or a no/low pile carpet floor.
Customer Review: Two year old loves it Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my girlfriend's two (and a half) year old for Christmas.
My girlfriend read the other reviews but thought they were over-exaggerated. Her thought was that her son would not have the focus to line up all of the pins and then hit them in a controlled manner; she thought that he wouldn't be able to understand the rules of bowling and that the concept of the game was beyond his knowledge. She was right!
But, he loves it anyway. He likes to throw things and the ball is soft enough that he won't hurt anything. He doesn't line up the pins, but he plays with each one as if it was an individual stuffed animal. We've been able to explain to him about different animals and different animal noises with the help of this toy. He will, on occasion, stand up one pin and throw the ball to try to knock it down, with little luck. He seems interested though and it keeps him happy; that's more important than a possible future career as a professional bowler.
Customer Review: It's OK, not my fave Summary: 3 Stars
I got this for my son's 1st birthday and he had absolutely no interest. As he got older, he wanted to play with the ball but never the "pins". Since he's turned two he is suddenly very interested in this toy. He knows the animal types and he likes to set the pins up and knock them down. When we play together I put them in a triangle and put a book on the floor a few feet away for him to stand or sit on as the "do not pass" line. When he plays by himself he just lines them up and throws the ball at them. He could do this for 30 minutes or more. The ball is a little wobbly, which makes hit hard to control, therefore difficult to hit the pins and, therefore, sometimes frustrating for kids (and parents!). Also, the bottoms of the pins can get bent easily and not stand up so well. I would probably not by this set again, primarily b/c of the ball, but like the concept of the game, the animal characters which can be educational, and the soft plush.
Customer Review: Adorable little critters! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these as a Christmas gift for my 1 year old nephew and he loves them! He watches as I set them up them knocks them down with his hands or body slams them all while laughing his little head off! He also picks them up one by one and waits for me to make the animal's noise. They are just the right size for young children and he can easily carry them around. They are soft and all make different "cute" little noises when you shake them. I have not had a problem with them falling over but can see how this could happen if you have plush or textured carpeting. These are wonderful toys and you will find them to be as adorable as your child is!
Customer Review: Baby Farm Friends Bowling Summary: 5 Stars
When I first purchased this product my daughter had just turned a year. At first, she was not interested in knocking down the animals with the ball, she just wanted to eat and kiss them, and carry them around. The first few months were teaching her what the animals were by singing Old MacDonald, and doing a counting game whilst I set up the pins. My daughter is now 14 months. She loves to watch me set up the pins and knock them down. She thinks it is the funniest thing ever. She is learning herself to roll the ball and knock the pins down. I like the little bag that it comes in for easy storage. I am planing to buy this toy for a gift!!.
