It's hard to imagine an easier life-cycle set up. Watch the larvae turn into adult ladybugs over a two week period of observation, then let them go in the roses out back. I learned a ton, since I'd not seen a ladybug larvae, or a ladybug's cocoon before. My girls drew pictures as the insects changed form, kept little journals of what they saw, and took pride in keeping their "little pets" and letting them go. Way better than a puppy, and way more educational. I highly recommend for anyone with children from say, 3 to 15.Customer Review: A great purchase!!!

I purchased this for my daughter, who is 6 year old. She was thrilled when she first saw the tube full of larva. She has enjoyed the responsibility of making sure they have enough water, that they are not getting too hot. Right now she currently had 5 left in the pupa stage and 8 have emerged as ladybugs. I will never forget the joy on her face when she went to check on them and found the actual ladybugs. This is a great toy to give to a child, it teaches responsibility, its educational and just downright fun for kids.Customer Review: Very disappointing!

We were so excited to try this out with our little boy, but it was not what we expected. The only exciting day of insect watching came the day that the shipment arrived from Insect Lore - the ladybug larvae moved around a lot for about a day, then hid for almost 5 days while they turned into ladybugs. Once they were ladybugs, they just sat around and didn't do anything (they only seemed to move when we weren't looking at them). Then they died. Wow, what a letdown. Next time, we'll go with an old-fashioned ant farm!Customer Review: Great Gift!

I have 15 nieces and nephews so you can imagine Christmas is hard on the pockets. I try to get the kids something of educational value. I came across these looking for butterfly kits, and fell in love. This product came well before the estimated delivery date and I couldn't beat the price! All the kids loved them as did the adults. In fact, I sort of wish I bought one for myself. Durable plastic, yet light weight and easily portable. I can't wait to give them something else from this company next year!Customer Review: Excellent!

We received 16 larva eaxcatly when we requested them and all have survived as far as we can tell. My 6 year old and my 3 year old loved watching the larva walk around and now love the pink ladybugs. It was particularly interesting for them because we had a few larva, a few pupa and a few adult ladybugs all at the same time. I even brought this in to my daughter's 1st grade class and had a mini-lesson with the kids. The teacher says they're still talking about it. This is well worth the money.
