Toys and Games Reviews of Trouble Board Game

Customer Review: They sure do make them like they used to.......
Summary: 3 Stars

My (6 year old) daughter received this classic for Christmas and we played the game that evening. Suffice it to say, the instuctions are the same and the fun of the game is the same as when I received it as a gift MANY years ago, however the durability has gone down hill big time. I cannot believe how cheap it is now, from the cheesy cardboard used with the graphics under the board, to the cheaper feeling plastic used for the pegs. The popomatic dice keeper even feels cheap and 1/2 the time my daughter pops it, it remains on the same number on the dice. Aren't there any companies out there that take pride in their products anymore? It seems not. I can't wait to open the Connect Four game - hopefully it won't fall apart before we play it.

Customer Review: My favorite game as a child is my children's favorite game!
Summary: 5 Stars

Trouble has become a classic game in the tradition of Monopoly, Clue, Chutes and Ladders, to name a few.

The concept is simple, depressing the dome tosses the die contained within it (this part is always a favorite for the young ones).

You then move the number of spaces shown on the die encircling the game board attempting to get your 4 pegs home first.

The game does not drag on for hours. It is a fast play. Long enough to be fun, not boring or time consuming for children and the adults who play with them.

This is always a favorite during "game time".

The hours of entertainment and enjoyment you will receive from this game make it well worth the money!

For families who enjoy games, this is a must have.

Customer Review: This game is a ton of fun for the whole family.
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a blast playing this game with a four-year-old child. It was great to teach her the rules and watch her count carefully as she moved her little pegs from space to space. Granted this game is for 5 years old and up, we did have a great time. I agree with the recommended age range, but if you are patient, many 4 year old children will enjoy this thoroughly. The only thing I was questioning was the sturdiness of the popper. We were sitting on the carpet playing the game. That may have been the problem. I would recommend placing the gameboard on a flat surface, such as a kitchen table or coffee table, to make it easier to pop the popper. Between 5 to 8 years old is probably a good age range for this game.

Customer Review: Love Getting Into Trouble!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this game when Hasbro had the rebates and made it an irresistible 4 dollars (on amazon)! We have quite a collection of Family Games for Family Night. This game is easily played by all, including our 5 year old. I guess it could help kids with counting, but as it only goes to six, not too much. But, what it does teach is patience and persistence. There is a tiny bit of skill involved as well as you have to think about which piece to move to keep safe with your roll (or pop). Thinking ahead and strategic planning easy enough for a kindergartener. Plus the kids love popping the dome and we are not hunting around the living room for an awol die. I am happy with the purchase.

Customer Review: Not a strong version of good, old fashioned game
Summary: 3 Stars

We like this game, despite my daughter's screams when she is send back again and my son's refusal to play the game for a couple of days after he has lost. It teaches essential skills of winning and losing, setbacks and gain. It's just good natured fun and at the end we all have a laugh.
What we don't like is the quality: the box is thin, the 'pop-o-matic' has a small crack after 2 plays (it works fine, just doesn't look good), piece of carton with rubber feet covered with plastic as the playing board, unattractive game pieces. Can they please go back and look at how this game was made a 30 years ago when I was a child??
