Toys and Games Reviews of Transformers Movie Deluxe Autobot JazzCustomer Review: Jazz is Back..and never looked better. Summary: 5 Stars
Just wanted to drop some comments on the Movie jazz.
First off, next to prime and wheeljack he is one of my favorites.
seeing jazz, in the movie line was great, and i bought him soon as he hit the shelf. I was really Impressed at how well built he is..and the detailing is incredible.. he is model quality, and would look great on any shelf or desk. His cooless factor has to be seen in person..the pictures dont do him justice.
the light up eye, is also a nice touch, and the head is a tribute to the G1 version of Jazz. the spoiler/shield that attatches on his shoulder is a great function also..although i wasnt crazy about his telescoping sword..sure its a nice idea but not really needed..how about giving him a blaster or a rocket launcher.like in the G1 days..but these are minor, and really dosent hamper my review.
i also liked the fact that his Autobot symbol is painted on instead of a sticker...dont know hom many times back in the day my symbols wore off.
the only thing i didnt like in this version, was those arms. You have to be really careful,or you might just break them..since they are connected directly to the front wheels. basically they are just panels with small hands folded out..but at least you can move the arms around somewhat. I wish the arms were more durable like the G1 jazz those were better constructd arms.
all said, this is one of my favorites of the movie line(next to prime) you can tell that these were made for the collectors, and rightfully so. i wouldnt give these to 4 year old johnny because kids can be careless but to somebody that appreiciates the transformers its a welcomed addition to your collection.
side note..its a shame hasbro couldnt get the rights from porsche again, but pontiac works also.
Customer Review: Best toy I've bought in years Summary: 5 Stars
It took me a couple of times of closely following the 13-step instruction manual to transform this from the car to the robot and back. Now that I've played with it a few times I can transform it back and forth without the instructions.
I'm amazed at how durable the parts are, because they require muscle to snap apart and back into place. Weaker toys would break under that kind of pressure. Jazz can take it again and again and again.
I can't speak for any of the other Transformers toys, but this Jazz one is amazing. On a four-point scale of difficulty, Hasbro rated this one a 3. It's fairly complex without being impossible. Whatever engineer designed this thing has my respect. Every part is utilized, and it all makes perfect sense. This kind of action figure toy is much more entertaining than the ones that don't actually do anything. Figuring out how it transforms offers an experience almost like the Rubix cube.
This is my first time to see the Pontiac Soltice in any form and Jazz is a pretty cool-looking car, sort of like a Dodge Viper. When Jazz goes into robot form, he looks terrific. The way the light shines through the back of his head into his cold blue visor is awesome. Much cooler than the toys I remember playing with back in the 1980's.
I'm pretty sure a 5-year old would need a parents' help getting this toy to transform. Maybe a simpler Transformer of level 1 or 2 would be more appropriate.
Customer Review: jazz gets ripped apart in the movie Summary: 4 Stars
fortunately, the toy is strong enough not to. I noticed that, due to the fact thtat they couldn't make a transformer "transform" like the movie, they meshed the new with the old, therefore, jazz has wheels on his shoulders in the toy. The movie version does not. I would not recomend this toy for transformers nuts, who are overly into accuracy, as this toy hardly is. He looks freakin awesom, though, and the simple design of his legs means that you can do a cool "midtransformation pose". The arms, due to the accuracy needed for the car mode, are a bit difficult to transform, even on the thousandth time. The head still looks cool, though. He has a wide range of shoulder motion, however his albows are a little limited. the end within 30 of a right angle
the knees too are limited, due to the overhang from the legs. the sheild also is a little ridiculus.
All in all, this toy is for playing with, not for some nimrod to hang in plastic wrap for 70 years. The sword allows for cool charging possess, but forget the words "quick change" this thing still takes me a few minutes.
Customer Review: My First Transformer, lots of fun Summary: 4 Stars
I've always wanted a transformer, now that they're back I bought Jazz. I selected Jazz since he doesn't look overly scary and according to other reviews he has a cool transformation. I also liked the fact that he doesn't have an evil looking gun, I told my kids it was a fishing pole. They didn't believe me, but I can try right?
I've never transformed one of these before and it took me several tries before I could get this one to transform reliably. (Note: I am not mechanically inclined.) Getting the arms into positing was hard for me. It made me wonder if I should have gotten the version for four-year-olds. It has instructions that made sense AFTER I figured it out. I managed to pop a piece off of it while trying to get it transformed, but it popped right back in again easily.
Overall, I like it. It's fun now that I understand how it works.
Customer Review: great autobot Summary: 5 Stars
I just bought this toy yesterday, and it's great.
I've been watning to get Jazz for a really long time, but thanks to the in-store TF toy drought, it made really hard to find.
but eventually I got REALLY lucky and found the Jazz G1 repaint at Target.
If you haven't seen it, it is basically the same build, but he's white with blue and red stripes down the middle with the number "4" on the sides and on the hood. With this repaint, Jazz looks EXACTLY like his G1 counterpart, which is cool for me since I just got into transformers after the new movie.
However, this G1 Jazz repaint (along with the Starscream G1 repaint) are ONLY at Target.
Overall, great toy, the alt. mode looks great, the robot mode feels sturdy and he can make some cool poses, even with his limited articulation.
