Toys and Games Reviews of Tinkertoy Classic Jumbo SetCustomer Review: Almost as much fun as I remember Summary: 4 Stars
As mentioned by other reviewers, the pieces are slightly bigger & fatter than they were when I was a kid (many years ago now). My 4-year-old has a bit of trouble getting some pieces to fit together and pull them apart. However she has already learned some about how to make something stable with a wide base, and how different size holes affect the stability of structures she builds, so there's some educational value there.
Unfortunately, she hasn't played with it too much since she got lots of other stuff for Christmas and it just can't compete with her new Geo-Trax set! That stuff is GREAT!
Customer Review: i want to be sure they are "CLASSIC TINKERTOYS" Summary: 5 Stars
I have a friend that is 40 years old but his mental capassity is about 5 years old. He loves "His Tinkertoys"! He has had them for so long that the wholes in the wheel parts became to large and the sticks would not stay in. So needless to say he his lost most of them over the years. His father tried to make him new ones, but it was a NO GO. He didn't seem to like the feel and won't touch them. Then yall did bring Tinkertoys back! THEY WERE GIANTS! He hated them... ... so do see now why I want to know if they are the REAL "CLASSIC TINKERTOYS" PLEASE THEY HAVE TO BE. The right size?
Customer Review: Exemplary Classic Toy Reproduction Summary: 5 Stars
After many bad experiences with revived classic toys (for example, the robot game), I was very pleased to find this set to be the high quality I remembered.
This is a toy the whole family can enjoy together on a rainy afternoon. My 2 year old and my 7 year old both enjoy this set (beware of small pieces for younger children) and how they can build huge things in seconds.
This encourage imaginative thinking, problem solving, and builds fine motor skills. Just make sure you get more than 1 set to release the creative possibilities.
Customer Review: Who knew? Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this on a whim for a great price thinking maybe my "plugged in" kids might find it interesting. Well, they all LOVE it and play with this set every, single day. They're constantly finding new ways to play with the parts and have actually been very good about putting the parts back into the bin. And the pieces all still seem as sturdy and well made as they were when I had a set in the 70's (they even smell the same if you lick them). This is a classic toy and I have no doubt that a long, LONG LONG time from now, my grandchildren will love it too.
Customer Review: Just like I remember!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my 3yo son and almost 1 year later, he and his 7yo brother still play with it several times during the week! I remember having a blast with it when I was young. Durability is a problem due to the pieces being wood - we've had to throw away several broken rods -- but then my kids aren't exactly gentle with them either. Once you've done a couple of the pictured projects , it sparks their imagination to build their own creations. Definitely ranks up there with wood blocks and the like for the type of toy the kids keep coming back to.
