Toys and Games Reviews of The Game of SCATTERGORIESCustomer Review: Intellectual Family Fun Summary: 5 Stars
My family and I love to play this game together. Scattergories challenges your creativity, because if two players come up with matching answers, neither player scores a point for that answer. The game has interesting categories on each card, and there are a lot of different cards. Even if you do decide to replay a category card, the letter will be different!
The one thing that isn't absolutely great about Scattergories is the included timer- it has a horribly loud ticking noise that makes it difficult to think. I recommend using your own egg timer or stopwatch to time the three minutes- my grandma even sets her kitchen timer.
Customer Review: Fun, Challenging & Learn New Words Summary: 5 Stars
I played this game with my family for the first time last night. It was very enjoyable and fun to play. It is a challenging word game. For each round each player fills in a list of 12 items with a word which has to start with the first letter as determined by the throw of a letter die. For example, the first letter might be S and items on the list might be footwear, something on a beach, a brand name, a type of drink, an occupation, a department store, emotion, something on a ranch and a book title. The answers might be slipper, sand, Sunbeam, soda, secretary, Sears, sadness, saddle and Seabiscuit. Have fun!
Customer Review: One of the funnest party games that I've played! Summary: 5 Stars
This game is one of FUNnest games that I've played. The concept of the game is pretty simple and makes it easy for any beginner to get going from game one. You need to be really witty and creative to come up with non-duplicate items. And boy the 3 minutes does go by pretty fast. The game comes with a timer and the influence of the timer is probably under rated. The ticking sound that the timer makes adds to the excitement of the game (especially when ticking goes faster and faster towards the end). If you like to play games and have a nice set of friends, please pick this up. Great game!
Customer Review: Great fun for mixed age groups Summary: 5 Stars
This game is one that can be played in teams (combine points) or with individuals. It was easy to play this with a mixed group of people, we did it with a group of 8-65 year olds and all had fun.
It was exceptionally funny to see the different takes the ages would use. On one of the items where we had rolled an L both Mom and Dad had linoleum my nephew was asking what that was. Needless to say M&D were annoyed as they each thought they would have a unique word. But serious fun was had by all.
If you want a fast paced fun timed game this one is for you.
Customer Review: Party Game!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is our game of choice when my family gets together with our best friends. This game is especially hillarious when you make up words and try to convince the other players to let you have the point for it. For instance, one time the letter was "W" and one of the subjects on the list was "something sticky", I wrote down "Wolf's Mouth". We all about died laughing. Now, even to this day, all I have to say is "Wolf's mouth", and we all crack up. You could play this game for hours and before you know it, it's the end of the night. There is no game that is more fun then this.
